- Dipika And Parag : A Director Duo With A Difference
When a teacher and journalist Parag tied the knot with the medical professional and businesswoman Dipika on June 29, 2000, the only thing common among them was their intense passion for watching films and filmmaking. They still enjoy watching films, which are closer to life and making films mostly based on subjects that turn out to be reality checks for their viewers. That’s the director duo of Parag Biswas and Dipika Biswas for you, the winner of over a hundred awards in top national and international festivals across the globe. “Though it may sound strange, our love for movies was the one thing that brought us together,” recalls Dipika, who with Parag has set a unique example for a whole generation of film-makers to emulate. “Come to think of husband-wife pairs in filmmaking, the Indian film industry has had a handful of them. Very few wives of successful filmmakers followed their husband’s footsteps and took up direction to prove their mettle. I am extremely lucky that Dipika didn’t just take a back seat when it came to wielding the megaphone and I always found her beside me during every happy or sad moment in my life and career as a filmmaker,” said Parag, who is now also an acclaimed anchor, TV presenter, commentator, quizmaster, voice-over artiste, expert-talker, educational trainer and motivational speaker. Since the success of their Bengali maiden venture, “The Bench,” which won three international awards in 2013 and was telecast on top satellite TV channel, the Kolkata TV, the director duo have worked together in over fifty short films, documentaries, music videos and ad films. “Dipika has always stood by me. Over the years, she has helped me understand the nitty-gritty of filmmaking through her experiences. She has also perfectly brought to life my creative thoughts on screen for every project,” said Parag. There are many reasons why the Parag Biswas-Dipika Biswas combination is slowly but surely becoming one of the most unassailable duos in both the short fiction and non-fiction genres. A major one is that the pair loves working on their own terms and conditions. “If you watch us carefully on the sets, you should instantly realize that we both are perfectionists and don’t take shortcuts when it comes to directing. For us, whether it is an ad film of a top kitchen chimney brand or a short film on multiple identity disorder or a docu-feature for the central government’s ministry of defence on women trafficking, directing is a collective art and we prefer to concentrate on our work when we are on the floors,” says Parag. The other reason, his better half believes, is the novelty in each of their projects that help them create their vision, rather than dealing with run-of-the-mill subjects using hackneyed methods. “We thrive on newness. Right now, we have several scripts. We shall have to pick the most novel from among them and give it a unique treatment,” said Dipika. The extremely novel, contemporary and relevant themes of human concern that have featured in the duo’s productions have contributed to an extraordinary career graph: 24 short films since 2012, and every single one of them has earned both critical and popular acclaim. The short and music movies made by Dipika and Parag explore the hopes and anxieties of modern society and in most of them, the director duo has shouldered three more duties - of writing, editing and producing, besides frequently performing cameos. The two filmmakers, who began their journey from making TV commercials before directing and producing films for top festivals and prestigious satellite TV channels such as NDTV PRIME, Kolkata TV and Dhoom Music as well as for the biggest short film distributor in the world - the Pocket Films - said in their television days, they realized that writing and directing simultaneously was a huge plus for filmmaking. “When we started making short films and music videos, it helped us to manipulate both the script and the direction deliberately to get into an organic mess. “We began by withholding parts of the script from the actors only to shout impromptu directions during the shoot. The idea behind not giving a complete narration to the actors was to achieve an organic performance,” said Parag. As directors, Parag and Dipika said they are “greedy” about making something for every kind of audience. “The Youtube, social media and OTT streaming platforms have now proved that full-length feature films solely are no longer Indian cinema. There are a large number of people around us who haven’t gone to a cinema hall in the last two years. They have a wide range of choices, easier access to content on Television, Youtube, OTT channels and social media platforms, and ample time because of the lockdown restrictions. These are definitely the key factors for the remarkable shift from the silver screen to the small screen and ample reasons for short fiction makers like us to come out of “traditional trappings of writing” to discover something new for different kinds of audiences,” they said. The veteran filmmaking duo doesn’t like short films with adult contents, in which an overdose of the flesh is deliberately introduced to attract viewership. They are also determined that they will never make a film to earn commercial success. “Our main objective is not to earn money but to generate awareness among the masses about various social issues. We firmly believe that cinema should educate and entertain, refresh and recreate. The films that we have made so far mostly deal with issues such as girl child, social ethics, eye donation, blood donation, lockdown, Covid-19, human trafficking, terrorism in schools, crime against woman, social stigma against mental disorders and the value of relationships, justice and book reading in our lives. We do also make thriller short films for entertainment and music movies on romantic lays but they also carry social and human messages and are not mere spectacular movies with over the top dance numbers, where heroes flaunt their eight pack abs and the actresses dance around trees in colourful costumes,” they said. The immensely successful duo signed off saying that they would continue making good, thoughtful films with a social motive for people, who loved the art of cinema. - Sayantan De- The Ice Breaking Journey Of A Influencer With A Vibrant Future
Hello Friends, I am Sayantan De, 20 years old - an influencer, model and actor and currently pursuing my B. Tech degree in CSE(Computer Science and Engineering) from West Bengal, Kolkata. It is immense to get a chance to speak in front of you all and unfold myself to extend my heartfelt greetings throughout my journey of life and for supporting me constantly. THE JOURNEY OF GROWING AS AN INFLUENCER: I had a childhood dream of standing out in the crowd and helping mankind and entertaining them. I was a cinephile from my childhood only. Life was a mix of interesting and exhausting; there’s never a day when it isn’t satisfying. My day starts early (often as soon as my feet hit the ground) by scouting the internet to see if there’s anything worthwhile trending. I enjoy most about being an INFLUENCER is that I have the flexibility to create content on subjects of my expertise and topics that appeal to my audience or even myself. Eventually, I started to grow with a niche of beauty and lifestyle and started spread my pen name @her_silver_shades. CONTENT CREATION: For me, creative satisfaction comes from iterating and challenging my understanding of a subject. So, as I explore the different aspects of a subject, my opinion about it often changes. I also keep in mind the needs of the brand and its target audience. So, I harmonize my own point of view and the intent with which a piece of content is being created. So I began my career as a lifestyle and beauty influencer at the advertisement of, kurkure, Rapido, Lays, Pure Cure, getsymthen, rizzle, and AHMP PERFUME and many more. I enjoyed creating content and influence people in their own way. WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT MY PAGE? I try to curate content on the latest trend and according to the taste of my audience. Delivering all my work on time makes me happy for my audience, which boosts my professional image and work prospects. Closing words : Eventually, I am a PR (Public Relations) manager in many brands now. As a content creator, I owe it to myself and my audience to support my creation since they rely on the content I curate for them. Hence, I’m always on the lookout for inspiration to do better. I learn from others and compare my work to different types of content and try to deliver something new and useful with every piece. It keeps me grounded, focused, and always looking for ways to improve my craft. - The Super Human Within - Thoughts By Monica Swamy
We have grown up hearing superhero stories. We have always wished in our time of challenges a superhero comes flying to rescue us from problems. Never was it told that the superhuman of those stories was in every single human on this planet. Never was it announced that this superhuman can be ignited and can be switched off at our own WILL. We as a human race are seeing one of the most challenging times of our life and a lot of us have started feeling helpless and hopeless. A lot of us are getting into a comparison trap if not they; how we. As a behavioural trainer time and again I have pressed the need for "Life Skills in the AI Era". It's high time we no more search on our identity and find the reason for doing good deeds for our family and people in the vicinity. If not at a big level or with a big amount start checking on all of your family members, and friends for their needs of food, money or things we can supply in the smallest quantity. Sometimes just a single meal, a single cup of tea, a patient attendant or a penny is all we can contribute but it's the world for people struggling to get it. It's the time we switch on the superhuman within! Take care of yourself and your family. About An Author: Monica obtained her B-Tech in Electronics & Communication in 2008 and thereafter started her career in Accenture as a Software Engineer in SAP. After working for few years in various technical roles of software-based solutions in Java & SAP, her aspirations for working closely with human resource directed her to complete her MBA degree in Human Resource Management. She is also a certified Global Career Counselor from the University of California and has completed her Post Graduation Diploma in Guidance & Counseling. As coaching, training and counselling have been her passion for a long she has completed her Transition coach certification and is an ICF certified Life & Career Transition Coach.
- The Young Boy As a Content Creator- Himanshu Yadav
Hello everyone, Special thanks to “stay featured” and "SMMH" for giving this wonderful opportunity. My name is Himanshu Yadav. I am 17 years old, a student of ‘Association of certified chartered Accountant ‘from Udaipur, Rajasthan and currently working on my startup “Scale-up me Media ''. I’m Rajasthan's youngest student to clear 2 papers of ACCA in class 11th. It was only possible with the help of 'PFC EDUCATION UDAIPUR'. I was focusing on my profession but making people laugh was my hobby, so I started my meme page on 21st April 2020. With the help of my page, I want to showcase my talent of creating memes, editing funny videos, and crossover with the help of my page. And I named my page “@memes_wale_chacha” and now most of you call me as ‘chacha” I started the page in hope of getting followers likes and popularity. But the starting days were pathetic. I don't know what to do. I just pick up my phone and post memes. But after some time I went through the various meme pages and understood how to post. So, I worked hard and joined various groups taking advice from various people and the day came when I reached 1k followers but that was not enough. So I started thinking one night how good 10k followers look on a page. I created a target to reach 10k followers before my birthday which is on 13 December. And that night changed everything, that I used to only study and post memes that's all so when I reached 3k followers the graph rapidly went up I started getting thousands of reach per post and I was so happy. When I crossed 5k followers the messaged pop a man who asked me would do a campaign with and II was like 'what is it about?, he replied ' you have to work with big OTT platforms' for ex - AMAZON, HOTSTAR, ALTBALAJI, MX PLAYER. That moment I can't explain. It was such a lovely moment from that scenario. I was 100% confident in myself. With help of creating and editing, I was also working with a firm is “RAHUL PLACEMENTS COMPANY” they hired me for creating templates for their company The director trained me for the future by explaining how the industry works, how to behave, and they taught me a lot of things. I used to earn money and I was completely able to manage my own expenses. Now having more than 11k followers working with various firms and currently working on my new startup and gained all of these things at the age of 17 years. My small dream was completed. Life is not just about ups. I have gone through downs a hundred times and I have failed a hundred times. I was kicked out a hundred times but I believed myself and worked with full determination and it definitely works. I also excelled in my studies and gave time equally to both studies and my page. There are only 24 hours allotted to each and everyone and it's upon you how you utilize it. Always believe in yourself. At that time I didn't have good friends. I was alone but that reminds me how strong I ‘am my inner power was beyond the level. The journey was not easy but it teaches a lot. Always believe in yourself. - An Engineer turned Content Creator : Radhika Seth
I would firstly thank "Stay Featured" for giving me an opportunity to share my journey with everyone My journey is not a long one because I started with my influencer journey just back in Feb 2021 I wasn't blank or clueless which is there with most of the content creators and influencers. I knew that planning, putting and executing in the right way is the only key to success. The initial phase went into a lot of brainstorming sessions with my own self, research on what is happening in the field at present, it's necessary to be on place otherwise we'd lose a long leap. Then came the most interesting phase that was testing, till now had not transformed my account into a professional but made it public and came up with 3 posts that's needed to start the journey. Why 3 posts? to broadly understand my category of work for the future. I came up with styling, makeup and lifestyle. The response took a little longer than I expected Felt like taking a step back then suddenly one night spent understanding which category out of 3 got me the most insights and went on creating more content in the same. And my decision of going back came down as I started to get people to interact and like my content Then I came into full-fledged at least one mode to create atleast one piece of content every day and put it up. The next important phase was to understand Instagram insights and act accordingly, slowly and steadily I began to act on it. Started to post when my audience was most available also what my audience was willing to see and who was my Audience, and as it is rightly said *Slow and steady wins the race, I gained my first 1k Family. Initially wasn't very clear with the idea of Collaboration, but then on advising myself from some previous creators, I went on to collaborate with a fashion brand and switched on my professional account. Coming up with the first brand's post, the amount of love and support I received was tremendous and overwhelming, more and more collaborations came my way. Lately, I started doing a new experiment of series/episode for a particular thing, can be an outfit, product or brands. My collaboration with AHMP was a very helpful phase in my growth, I went on to gain more attention from other opportunities and growth Vaibhav has been such a dear person to me throughout and also even after, he made me introduce to so many other deals through SMMH The journey of almost 4k family wasn't so smooth, there was a phase where I couldn't get time from my job to create a new look or to put up Content for a long while. With the second wave of Covid things weren't the same anymore now, this time all social media content creator could do was to amplify request, needs or any medical conditions and this phase also made me do a bit of my social help as well as creating something to keep people sane and have something for them to take a break. I'm open to all sorts of brand and content, haven't restricted myself to just the fashion industry but have gone ahead with lifestyle as well as health Content and have also received a request from my followers for a specific piece of content and have satisfied them with my work. I belong to a Business family where most of the days are spent struggling and fighting for livelihood and this taught me to be the fighter to win the race, my parents have been a guide to me on all my decisions and yes that's also a key factor of my progress. An advice to all those newbies that please just don't jump into the field of content creation and influence because it isn't that easy deal, learn from already settled creators or grown creators and see how they paved their path to success. Don't think of it as a cup of tea because that also requires dedication and commitment. You will not grow overnight and you'll never again in a go. Good things take time to learn, educate yourself understand your niche and deep dive to working hard because that's the only solution to great results, and yes patience is the ultimate deal! Thinking of joining any profession without adequate knowledge is useless and similarly, your education is also very important if you compromise on that you'll have to compromise the whole way to get a reach your goal. I hope my journey can be a source of inspiration for all newbie influencer and content creator and also a learning lesson. I'm free and most happy to help anyone. Work hard and keep hustling you will win for sure! if you want to stay connected with me, these are the links Instagram link https://www.instagram.com/showstopperengineer Facebook link https://www.facebook.com/Radhikaseth11
