- Afghanistan: Moment of joy amidst chaos
Cricket is not just a game. It is an emotion. An emotion that connects people all around the globe in unity, promoting peace. It was hard to understand how just a game can change the country and its image until the refugee has ridden Afghanistan made it to the highest level of cricket starting literally from the streets. The passion and love for the game of cricket were visible in the Afghan squad the moment they started playing cricket a decade ago. Author:- Ashwin Jangam (Cricket Analyst, host, poet, entertainer) Insta I'd:- cricket_creativity Unfortunately, whatever happened in Afghanistan in the last 3 months was beyond imagination. Whether it was politically correct or wrong, it did affect the locals of the country traumatizing them and making them suffer and writhe in pain. In the country struck with grief again after 2 decades, cricket was the only reason which could bring back smiles on the faces of Afghans. Although it did not or may not remove their pain, it may help the locals cherish at least some amount of their time. This is exactly why, after lot of controversy on their participation, when Afghanistan's national anthem was played in their first match in the T20 world cup, tears rolled down a few of the Afghan players' and spectators' eyes. On one side, their nation was no longer a democratic nation and the players and their countrymen suffered from pain, on the other side the team had a tough task to win the game and bring joy on their faces. And boy, they did it in style. If dominance has some meaning, truly it would be for the match between Afghanistan and Scotland. Winning the toss, skipper Nabi chose to bat first. And the decision was proved right by their openers. The 23-year-old hard-hitter Hazratullah Zazai and the experienced Mohammad Shahzad took on the bowlers in the power play scoring 56 runs in the first 6 overs. Another youngster, Rahmanullah Gurbaz continued the onslaught from the point where Shahzad left. After the wicket of Zazai, Najibullah Zadran took on the Scottish attack in style. All these batsmen and skipper Nabi hit long sixes demoralizing the Scottish bowlers. Resultant of which the Afghan tigers posted a mammoth total of 191 runs. Scotland was put under heavy pressure right in the first game of Super 12. To chase the target with a required run rate of above 9.5 was a challenge for them. And the Scottish batsmen had no answers to the spin twins of their opposition. Known for their supreme quality bowling, Mujeeb ur Rahman and Rashid Khan dismantled the Scottish batsman, with the former claiming a five-wicket haul and the latter scalping 4 wickets. Coetzer and his men had no answer to Afghan bowlers' googlies. Barring Munsey, skipper and Greaves, none of the batsmen could score in double digits. 5 batters were out for a duck, with 3 of them out for a golden duck. Afghanistan won this match by a huge margin of 130 runs with 58 balls to spare. That was some kind of dominance in any matches you will see in a world cup. With low scoring matches happening in the tournament with team totals of less than 130 in a few matches, winning with a margin of 130 runs is an achievement to remember. One has to feel for Scotland, who carved their way to the Super 12's with extremely hard work but were put under immense pressure by Afghanistan right in the first match. But that's just how cruel the game is. But both the teams have a long way to go in the tournament. It is not the end of the journey for Scotland, neither it is an automatic qualification for Afghanistan. While Scotts might be disappointed, the people of Afghanistan definitely might be smiling with their hearts, a sight which the entire world would be happy to see. Knowing what they and their cricket team have been through, the win must have given their countrymen a chance to rejoice, and a chance to feel proud about themselves. Looking at the moment, Nabi and his boys have gained immense confidence and would want to proceed ahead with the tournament with the result they and their countrymen deserve. Whether it happens or not, only time will tell. But if cricket is going to play such an important role in the happiness of someone's life, one can only hope that Afghanistan reaches the highest level in this tournament.
- Defeat and the lessons to learn from India Vs Pakistan Match
The game is beautiful, and few rivalries make it even better. One such rivalry between the two neighbours, who once used to be a part of one nation is always a special treat to watch for the fans. India and Pakistan are the most loved and most viewed rivalry across the globe. Author:- Ashwin Jangam (Cricket Analyst, host, poet, entertainer) Insta I'd:- cricket_creativity Since bilateral series does not happen anymore between the two nations, the only platform where we witness the rivalry is the stage of ICC events. While India has proved to be dominant in the ICC World Cup, with an unbeatable winning streak of 7 in Odi World cups, the winning streak of 5 wins in the T20 World cups was broken by Babar Azam's men on 24th October 2021. Winning the toss, Pakistan made Men in Blue bat first, and Shaheen Shah Afridi proved their decision right. In the very first over, he gave a big blow to Men in Blue by dishing a perfect inswinging Yorker dismissing Rohit Sharma. In his very next over, he came with an inswinging ripper off good length breaching the gap between bat and pads of Kl Rahul. Stuck in a difficult situation at 6-2, the Indian skipper stepped on the crease to the rescue of Men in Blue. Playing cautiously with Surya Kumar Yadav, he showed why he is the king with his wristy bottom handed six off Shaheen Afridi too long-on. Even after Surya's wicket, he continued to fight along with Rishabh Pant, who played a handy knock of 39 with 2 towering one-handed sixes. The best batsman in the world was firm on one end when wickets fell on the other. He notched his gritty fifty and was scalped by Shaheen Afridi soon. His contribution led India to a fighting knock of 151. It was Pakistan's excellent bowling, something they are known for, who dominated the Indian batters. Barring Surya's wicket, every other wicket was a result of their exceptional bowling. It was then the show of openers of Men in Green who stole the limelight. Skipper Babar and Rizwan launched an attack on Indian pacers to chase the target with 10 wickets with both scoring fifties. Babar Azam led to the first victory of Pakistan over India in World cups, something which Pakistan would cherish for a long time. India lost the game for the first time against their arch-rivals. The loss by 10 wickets is a difficult pill or swallow for the team as well as a billion fans. The disappointment of players was visible in the camp. But there are a few lessons Men in Blue learnt, which would help them improve in the matches to come. And as they say, champions are the ones who bounce back stronger. India has always bounced back from the defeats, and it will happen in the remainder of the tournament. Just they need to be keen on a few things. Firstly, India and its struggles with a left-arm pacer who can swing the ball both ways was always a matter of concern. The left armed pacers have troubled Indian top order from the past half-decade, leading to difficulty right from the power play. While the last time it happened, was during the 2019 world cup semifinal against New Zealand, there was no chance to improve in the tournament as it was a knockout match. But yesterday's match against Pakistan was just the beginning of the tournament, and with improved batting in the tournament, Indian batters can tackle left-handed every time pacers. Secondly, India heavily depends on its top order. In the last few ICC events, the top order has fired everytime except for the knockout matches, leading to sudden exposure of middle-order in a pressure knockout match. The inexperience of middle-order batting in the tournament led to their failure in all these cases. However, yesterday the middle order was exposed right in the first match, and they kept fighting to reach a considerable total. Given the further duration of the tournament, the exposure of middle-order in the first match itself will give them some confidence to fight if the top order fails in any of the pressure matches. The loss to Pakistan will also help the team and all the players are grounded. After all, it's a sport. Some days you win, some days you lose. But what matters is the sportsman spirit, which accepts defeat with grace and helps rise once again. The gesture from Indian skipper Virat Kohli congratulating the Pakistani counterpart and Rizwan showed the true meaning of sportsmanship. The visuals of Pakistan players taking tips from MS Dhoni received a lot of heartfelt messages from fans of both countries. While the media of both the countries trying to spread hate and Indian media and fans underestimating the Pakistan team, yesterday's visuals showed the bond of love between the two countries and also gave a message to never underestimate the opposition. The tournament has just begun. The first match for Men in Blue may have resulted in a loss, but time and again India have shown the world how to rise from the ashes to lead to a victory. Virat is extremely positive about the approach of Men in Blue and is confident of winning the games to come. Similarly, all Indian fans must support and love our team equally the way they would have loved in case of a victory yesterday. In my opinion, India has a great chance to lift the world cup the second time. With the boys raring to go, and fans eager to do so, the tournament will get better and one can hope that the tricolour raises high during the world cup.

- ICC Men's T20 World Cup : Ray of hope for the expansion of the game in new countries
Once upon a time, Cricketing authorities were looking to boost the game's popularity with the younger generation in r reesponse to dwindling crowds and reduced sponsorship. It was intended to deliver fast-paced, exciting cricket accessible to thousands of fans who were put off by the longer versions of the game. Due to these efforts, we are experiencing a thrill to watch the shorter version of the cricket like a suspense thriller movie Author:- Ashwin Jangam (Cricket Analyst, host, poet, entertainer) Insta I'd:- cricket_creativity The world cup is a grand stage for cricketers and teams to showcase their immense talent and passion for the game. While the established test teams who dominate the game, play to prove their dominance and the associate nations play to establish their dominance and to promote the beautiful game in their country. The group stage of the T20 world cup 2021 was no different. The associate lit up the stage with their passion and performance and lived up to the expectations of the game. The love for the game was visible in the inaugural match between Papua New Guinea and host country Oman when Asad Wala and his men could not hide their emotions and shed tears of happiness when their national anthem was played. The hosts were delighted to have a tournament of this magnitude happening in their homeland. They came to the party and gave their fans a moment to cheer by winning the first game comfortably by 10 wickets with 38 balls to spare. On the same day, Scotland led to the first upset in the tournament beating the 6th ranked Bangladesh by 6 runs in a nail-biting match. The second group had a few known names in international cricket like Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands and Namibia. The first fixture in this group on 18th October between Ireland and Netherlands was made memorable by Curtis Campher who pulled 4 wickets on 4 consecutive deliveries, restricting the Netherlands to 106, which was chased by Ireland in 16th over. The same day Sri Lanka bowled Namibia out for 96 courtesy of their spinners and won the game with 39 balls to spare. On the 19th, Scotland defended a total of 165 against Papua New Guinea, with the latter fighting it till the end. But all eyes were on Bangladesh vs Oman contest happening on the same day. A do or die match for Bangladesh, they won it by 26 runs. With Naim scoring a half-century and his crucial partnership with Shakib helped them to cross the 150 run mark, despite their most experienced batters Mahmadullah and Rahim coming late to bat. It was then Mustafizur and Shakib with the ball who won it for the Bangla Tigers. 20th October witnessed an absolute thriller in the first one and a rather one-sided game in the second one. Namibia emerged victorious over the Netherlands in the nail biter with their captain Erasmus, Wiese and Smith coming to their rescue chasing a total of 165. The same day , Ireland was crushed by Sri Lanka who won the game by 70 runs, with their spinners again contributing to their win. With this win, Srilanka qualified for the super 12 in style. Bangladesh almost sealed their spot in the super 12 on 21st beating Papua New Guinea by a huge margin of 84 runs. Scotland shattered the hopes of the host nation the same day by chasing a target of 123 in 17 overs, thereby confirming their place in Group B. Scotland dominated the group qualifying for the Super 12 for the first time. The last day of the Group stage ended with Namibia and Srilanka emerging victorious. Namibia defeated Ireland by chasing 126 on a difficult pitch, with their captain Erasmus playing a captain knock along with David Wiese. Namibia had earned a place in Super 12 for the first time in a T20 world cup. The same day Sri Lanka went bonkers on the Netherlands, by allowing only 44 runs for their opponent, which they chased in a mere 9th over. While Bangladesh and Srilanka have been a part of other T20 World cups, Scotland and Namibia made their performance win them a hard-earned place in the Super 12. Also, Papua New Guinea, Oman, Ireland showed great character in all the matches they played. They played their heart out. The Netherlands however had a campaign they would like to forget. But the group stage gave identity to lot of new stars of cricket. Jatinder Singh, Aquib Ilyas, Zeeshan Maqsood, Asad Wala, kobea Morea, Curtis Campher, Little, Davy, Erasmus, and many others turned out to be heroes for their team and will be looked up to for the enhancement of the game in their country in the future. The best part about the group stage was to see countries like Oman and Papua New Guinea making it to the tournament's group stage. It gave a ray of hope for the expansion of the game in new countries and will contribute to the betterment of the future of the game with more spectators and countries looking up to the game. Furthermore, the matches happening in the beautiful Oman cricket academy stadium surrounded by hills, brought satisfaction to viewers giving them hope of exploring new locations in the world on the cricket map. All in all, the happy cricket fans looking forward to the Super 12 will never forget the associate countries playing their heart out for qualifying and would hope to see more countries and newer locations on the World cricket map.
- Translating your legal service into Business Development : Linkedin Feed From Arunima Jha
Strategize and try to understand what resonates with your Clients. As a corporate attorney based in India, I kind of have lived the art of setting up companies from raising capital through venture capital, acquisition, private equity et al. As attorneys we become business advisors. You need to understand the business and help them find the right pitch to approach the right investor. To be honest, hitting the milestone feels so amazing. As an attorney, it's important to understand how you look at a particular transaction and there's no amount of billable hours that would make a company successful. It's all about your passion to bring the right amount of growth. Thinking about business, I look at the sub-optimal elements and I like to be involved with the product, business, documents to help build a business around. I love experimenting with ideas and in my experience being a lawyer helps me sail through the specialized areas smoothly. Of course, there are times when I feel nervous but whenever I am nervous, I always think at the end of the day if the idea fails, what's the worst that could happen? It fails terribly. So I go back to the scratch. So I go back to understanding the journey and it helps me to be an attorney with a much better experience. The feeling of failing is terrifying but I like to keep trying how to do things for the Client and you need to know what it means to be an attorney. You have to learn, you have to admit that there might still be things you don't know about and hence you need to read and research about it. Sometimes it may result in a dysfunctional way of work like as attorneys you may not have a dedicated team to work upon a matter. You need to figure out how to solve the problem with reduced costs. You need to identify how to help people grow but you also need to be aware of when to allow a person to leave (sometimes for their good). What I learned when people look to you as the leader, you need to hold that faith of your team. At the end of the day, the team keeps going. You need the determination to keep going. Be relentless and one part of being a lawyer is to consume a lot amount of information. I do a lot of reading, listen to podcasts, connect with people and what it comes down to is to tap into skills that I as an attorney do not have. Raoof Dhanani, Managing Director, Sayaji Hotels Ltd Raoof Dhanani: I believe that for a brand to be successful, it has to resonate with the changing trends and dynamics.
