- Dr Pratik Mungekar Appointed as Director of Research & Innovation
Dr.Pratik has been appointed as Director of Research & Innovation Professor of Leadership & Innovation & has been granted the license International Certified Educator by Dominion of Impact International Bible Institute & International Theological Educators & Professors Council (ITEPC) Northern Nigeria. He putforth his thoughts on Research & Innovation as follows: Through government initiatives, organizations, schools, and universities, India is putting in a lot of effort to establish a widespread culture of innovation. The issue has been that none of these various areas have communicated much with one another in the past. Interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge, information, and insights has been hindered by working in silos. Disruptive innovation at the cutting edge necessitates a sincere desire to make a difference in people's lives rather than just making a profit. Research is a field that needs to be given a lot more attention; something that it hasn't received outside of academia. The respect research experiences at its universities have earned the United States of America is one of the reasons for its dominance. One of the most fundamental approaches to innovation is academic research. Since research is the process of finding out about something that has already happened, how does it relate to innovation? The response is that research is an essential component of the idea generation process. Problem development, market research, competitive research, and a feasibility and requirements study are all important points in the idea lifecycle where research can be used. The issue is that it is difficult to anticipate every potential benefit or outcome of research. In a similar vein, it is impossible to foresee every type of research knowledge that will in the future contribute to a revolutionary innovation. We have also been wary of research because of its connection to failures. However, organizations should not be discouraged from pursuing it by these factors. Measurement of the economic and other returns of research does not demonstrate a clear correlation or a linear path to innovation or success, as stated in a 2014 research paper titled "Furthering America's Research Enterprise." It is not as straightforward as input X plus Y and output Z. Along the way, smaller insights and discoveries have culminated in larger, ground-breaking innovations. Naturally, we must begin with a vision, but we must also become accustomed to failing along the way and remain open to what we learn. The same idea is propagated by design thinking and agile methodologies, which are being adopted by many organizations to become disruptive. Increased competition and price wars are the results of major corporations concentrating primarily on developing goods and services that are analogous to those already on the market. - Fed rate hike: No cause for concern in India
The mid-month decision of the US Federal Reserve to raise benchmark interest rate by half a percentage point evoked much interest in India because of the signalling effect it is expected to have on the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and central banks of other world economies. In its continued battle against inflation, the Fed increased the benchmark interest rate to the highest level in 15 years. The Federal Open Market Committee voted to boost the overnight borrowing rate, taking it to a targeted range between 4.25 per cent and 4.5 per cent. Along with, it gave the indication to keep the rates higher through 2023, with no reductions until 2024. The new level marks the highest the Fed funds rate has been since December 2007, just ahead of the global financial crisis. Though India, the fastest-growing economy in the world post-pandemic has not have much to fear about the aftereffects of the global slowdown that may impact various sectors, including real estate. The sector, which has been buoyant since the Covid-19 pandemic, is most likely to continue with its growth momentum in the first quarter of 2023, say a majority of experts. Their optimism is based on the fact that so far, the impact of the rate hikes has been minimal on the home-buying sentiment. The latest hike, announced by the RBI in December, was the fifth in seven months and it is set to increase the cost of home ownership further. Once that happens, it may impact the overall sentiment; and that is a cause of worry for the stakeholders of the real estate sector. Looking at the Fed rate hike in this backdrop, their fears seem valid to an extent, but that is not the dominant sentiment in the industry. There are a good number of realty players and domain experts who discount such fears. The Fed decision, they say, is in response to an economy that may witness the worst downturn since the Great Depression. The situation in India is quite different, they argue. Mr. Ashish Bhutani, CEO, Bhutani Group said, “The rate hike by the US Fed will hardly have any major impact on the Indian economy which has been arguably robust and far better than its peers. Well-poised to become the world’s third-largest economies in the world by 2027, the Indian economy is already resilient with a strong manufacturing push. Hence, there may be temporary fluctuation in the market sentiments, but that’s not going to impact the economy in the long run.” Meanwhile, “After the US Fed has raised its policy rates the Indian Rupee which was already falling has further slipped to a record low against the US Dollar. Such a scenario has reduced the appeal of domestic assets back in India and made the Dubai real estate market more attractive for the Indian investors keen to either live, work or trade in the world’s safest city,” said Mr. Rizwan Sajan, Founder and Chairman, Danube Group, adding that already the growing trend of existing residents investing in property and the golden visa benefits have lifted the investor's sentiments several notches higher in UAE. Undoubtedly, when the world economy increases interest rates too quickly, the economic growth of the developing nations may get slow, or in the long run, it can give way to recession. However, in the Indian context, the scenario is different. Mr. Ajay Chaudhary, CMD, Ace Group opined, “As the fundamentals of the Indian economy are strong and its inherent capability has already made it achieve commendable growth rate, the aggressive stance by the US Fed is unlikely to dampen the spirit. Above all, the Indian central bank has already been taking appropriate measures and so, there is no need to be worried about this.” In terms of the Indian real estate sector, in particular, the only concern is the burden of increased home loan rates, due to the continuous hike in repo rate by the RBI. It will certainly impact property sales. However, the emerging scenario has another positive side that one must look at. Many real estate developers have not increased property rates in the last couple of years. Still, the Fed move is an alarm bell. Even though there are no short-term concerns, the global slowdown due to this may hurt the economy beginning next fiscal. Hence it’s time to be cautious and take appropriate steps.

- Right To Education Right Education & Right Way of Education- Dr Pratik Mungekar
I am Dr Pratik and today I am presenting an insightful and impactful speech on the right to education. The right to education is a fundamental human right that is a powerful tool for socially and economically marginalized children and adults to use to help them get out of the vicious cycle of poverty. It also includes the right to free education. Freedom of education refers to the right granted to humans to pursue the education of their choice without restriction. There was a discussion on what is possibly the most powerful equation that was ever developed by scientists. Someone said that it was the equation describing Newton’s second law, giving the relationship between force (F), mass (m) and acceleration (a), namely, F = ma. Someone else said that it is Einstein’s equation linking Energy (E) to mass (m) and the velocity of light (c), namely, E = mc2. The others came out with some other suggestions. Then they asked Dr Mashelkar what he thought. He said neither Newton nor Einstein. The most powerful equation is E = F. Here E is Education and F is Future! This means education is equal to the future. This equation is universal and eternal. If there is no education, there is no future. No future for the individual, no future for the nation. “In addition to the numbers, it is important to promote quality in education. Keeping in view the national policy that each state should have a high-quality institution of learning, These are very interesting times for the education system as a whole in India. First, the Indian system of education is undergoing a sudden massive expansion. The role of the private sector in education is being redefined because of the additional need for massive resources that will be required to fulfil the aspirations. Second, the liberalization of the education sector in India. On 24 July 1991, the new industrial policy was announced. That gave us the second freedom, the freedom to compete. Although trade and industry were liberalized on this day, the process of liberating India’s education and agriculture sector has not still been completed. Third, the globalization of education. As regards globalization of technology, it has manifested itself in India. Practically all the leading multinational companies have set up their R&D Centres in India (almost 800 of them now employing about 200,000 Indian scientists, engineers and technologists). But what about the globalization of Indian education? Indian companies are acquiring companies abroad. In fact, Ratan Tata, an Indian, is today the biggest employer of British in Britain with the acquisition of Corus, Jaguar Land Rover, and so on. What about Indian universities setting up campuses abroad? What about Indian universities hiring foreign academics as faculty? What about foreign students making a bee line for our universities? Fourth, the issue of moving from ‘right to education’ to ‘right education’, to ‘education for all’. It translates itself into an all-round inclusion of `have nots’, where this section of the excluded society gets access to high-quality education, that is “affordable and accessible”. The justifiable quest for `inclusion’ is also accompanied by the challenge of balancing `expansion, inclusion and excellence’. For teaming young Indians, the issue of `growth’ translates into `job-led growth’. And therefore, the education and skills that the Indian education systems impact must lead to tens of millions of jobs. And the news is not good on this front. Reportedly, we are producing over three million first-degree holders annually and less than 20% of these are employable! Fifth is innovation in education. Among other things, it involves the creative use of fascinating advances in technology to do away with the old style of classroom teaching, which is going to be a history. Look at the dramatic changes that are happening around us due to advances in Information & Communication Technology. Digitisation, virtualisation, mobilization and personalization are the four new megatrends. All these will lead to game-changing co-creative, self-organising, self-correcting, borderless, globally distributed, asynchronous, dynamic and open systems. Data, voice and video will be delivered with the already existing 3G and the imminent arrival of 4G in India. The processes of self-learning, interactive learning and lifelong learning will undergo a sea change with all these paradigm shifts. Dr Mashelkar suggests the following five points: – We will make a transition from being a weak and hesitant private sector partner to a strong practitioner of privately managed non-profit institutions of higher education. – We will do away from being a tentative destination for occasional foreign students to be a preferred global destination for foreign students. – We will move from minor follower and a player in research and innovation to a global leader and a giant in research and innovation. – We will be a confident and competitive intellectual property promoter rather than being protective and restrictive intellectual property practitioner. – Instead of being copier of ‘best’ practices in education and research, we will become the creator of ‘next’ practices in education and research. And it is these paradigm shifts in our attitudes and in our actions that will make the dream of creating India into a leading developed innovation nation come true, and that too sooner rather than later. As quoted by Nelson Mandela “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” and I fully agree with him because education changes human nature in a desirable way as the changes brought about by education are boundless and positive in nature. Education helps to surpass irrational restrictions, promoting equality, systematic functioning of a diverse country like India. Education reduces unemployment and improves the standard of living of people. Education increases people’s productivity and creativity. It encourages entrepreneurship and technological advancement. It plays a crucial role in ensuring economic, social progress and improving income distribution. Education aids in the transmission of knowledge required to comprehend and process new information and to implement new technologies. Innovation is a direct consequence of imparting quality education to people. Education is vital for the economic growth and prosperity of a country. As a result of the Right to Education, Right Education & Right Way of Education the literacy rate will increase and the unemployment rate in the country will decrease, which will automatically facilitate the economic growth of the country. With an increase in economic growth, there will be an equitable income distribution among people and it will also help in establishing an egalitarian society as education helps people think and act in an objective and broad manner. The right to education is a fundamental right of every citizen that should not be snatched from them because education gives meaning to life and replaces an empty mind with an open one. - Featured By Stay Featured: Flavours Street
Well, where to start with this…. Okay, let's start from the beginning… The journey of Flavour Street started with Alfred's arrival in Pune in 1997. The idea of serving delicious and authentic sandwiches came to Alfred at a very young age. But coming from a humble background and lacking financial support, he started his journey as a roadside hawker in Koregaon Park. Alfred was a confident young boy who was fortunate enough to learn his culinary skills from the best continental chefs of 5-star hotels in Goa, where he did miscellaneous jobs to make his living. He was sure if he used his much-appreciated culinary skills to work, people would love his sandwiches as there was a dearth of authentic sandwiches back then. (Read Alfred’s story in the next frame to know more about his journey). Alfred started his journey with a thela gaadi in 1998 at Koregaon Park. Flavour Street started with a humble menu of just three to four options of sandwiches but they were made to perfection. Soon the word spread around and we were having too many people to even handle. Some famous personalities like Kader Khan, Poonawala, Baba Kalyani, and Venky’s among others stopped by to have our sandwiches. At that point, Alfred sold 500 sandwiches a day. Looking back they were golden times which Alfred recalls fondly. So famous were Flavour Street sandwiches back then that the road usually got jammed by the crowd waiting in front of the stall. This soon became a concern for the ever-growing Koregaon Park’s developing area. So, authorities started pressuring us to move from there. We were disappointed and worried about what would lie ahead for Flavours. In this brief time, Alfred worked in the kitchen of one of the prominent hotels in Pune. But his heart was stuck in restarting Flavours. Gangadham : Like a god-sent saviour, a customer who loved our sandwiches offered a place at Gangadham which was our first outlet with a proper setting opened in 2004. It remains one of the pillars of Flavours Street to this day. Many customers in the area loved our vegetarian-friendly food and made huge party orders. Flavours Street has been a magnificent success in Gangadham and being the first proper outlet, it holds a special place in our hearts. FC Road : On popular demand and insistence from numerous customers that we should open at FC road, we went ahead and started Flavours Street at FC road in the year 2005. Although we almost immediately received the same love and appreciation from customers, we had to go through adversities for various reasons. At one point, Flavours Street’s outlet was damaged overnight by some miscreants, But the perseverance Alfred has developed over his struggling years came to his aid to continue Flavour Street at all costs. Ultimately, FC road Flavours is our best branch today. We get compliments for our quality from new customers every day which fills our hearts with satisfaction. NIBM Although the pandemic was hitting hard on all restaurants, one thing about Flavour street is that customers are our biggest motivators and supporters in starting new ventures. One such customer was so much in love with Flavour’s food, that she insisted on starting a new outlet. Although we were hesitant initially, we went ahead anyway and it worked out beautifully. We are glad we opened Flavours in NIBM in 2021. We received a lot of love from customers here too. Now we are working on developing the outlet further. Make sure you visit us in NIBM. Aundh We are here with a new fine dining outlet again. We start at Aundh in April 2022. We hope that Aundh would be bestowed with the same love and support as other branches. As you got a clue already Alfred learnt his culinary skills from the best continental chefs. He makes sure that he teaches the same skills to each chef working at Flavours. Even though we started with a humble menu size back then, we take pride in saying that we have more than 80 dishes at present on our menu. We also added some exciting pastas, pizzas and fresh fruit juices. We expanded our menu by innovating over time. Each item that you see on the menu is curated by our best chefs. We can proudly say that we are the pioneers in introducing many dishes in Pune like Chocolate Toast, Jamun shots, Mumbai Masala Toast, Pahadi Grill Sandwiches and many other delicacies. We not only have authentic flavours in our sandwiches, pasta, and pizzas but also we have mixed up some recipes to satiate the Indian palette. For example, the Pahadi sandwich which is one of the most famous sandwiches of Flavours is made from a recipe of meticulously picked and rare ingredients, such as original Kashmiri chillies used for making the red chutney. Customers often say that some of our sandwiches taste like Continental food mixed with Mom’s recipes. Still to this day, we produce all our main recipes and materials in a central kitchen to maintain quality and uniformity at all our branches. We can proudly say that we put our efforts into the kitchen to serve the best quality to our customers. If you would ask, Mr Alfred would endlessly boast of how and where he acquires the freshest and premium quality ingredients for his food items from various special vendors for each ingredient. But to be honest, that is something really to be proud of. He even plans to grow organic vegetables and fruits for his food joints. We are one of the most concerned people for our customers. Flavour Street provides only fresh juices and natural drinks in place of carbonated sugary drinks as they affect health drastically. We make sure that we use the freshest ingredients which we stock every day and cook food in the healthiest way possible. Such is the attention to detail at Flavours Street that the bread which is used is freshly made and grilled at a peculiar temperature to reduce the yeast levels to ease your digestion after having our tasty sandwiches. Okay! We will not bore you with any more details of cooking. Point is, you can enjoy our food while we take care of your health here. Not only that, we are planning to launch an entire segment of dishes for healthy foods in our menu for health-conscious people. We are working on innovating new dishes to balance our taste and health. Consider it coming soon!! Perseverant, passionate, committed and Hardworking are the adjectives which would describe Alfred as a person if you look at his journey as a founder of Flavour Street. Alfred has always believed in providing his tasty food at reasonable prices because serving food for him is not just a business but something that he loves to do. He is so passionate about food that he does not trust anyone else to make the main recipes and he spends most of his day in the kitchen. His quality of being a people person along with his remarkable food service urged his customers to suggest him new places. That is how he came up with Gangadham, FC Road, and NIBM branches across Pune. The attention and love he gained from his customers worked as an impetus for him. Alfred is not very much of a business-minded person rather he relies on the utility quotient. Although his initial goal was limited to creating a sandwich brand, with a wide variety of sandwiches, he succeeded in creating that diversity in his carte soon enough. So he ventured into adding more delicious options of pasta and pizzas to his menu. Flavours Street has been very integral in Alfred’s life to an extent that he found the love of his life, Almas. When asked about Alfred, Almas fondly says, “Alfred’s personalities in both professional and personal life are the same. I have seen very few people who have found a passion for a thing and I am married to someone who gives me a chance to have a glimpse of it every day. He surprises me with his experience and so many new ideas he has about Flavours Street! He has been through so much struggle but he has never thought of giving up. He never stops, he wants to improve as a person every day, and that exactly gets reflected in his business as well. He is an absolute giver”. They got married in 2011 and have a little girl named Myraah. Almas has supported Alfred on his journey and has helped him understand the business in a more professional setup. She now looks over some specific parts of the business. Alfred has also adopted a street dog named Tuffy. This cute little family with a dog looks like a fairytale and they say they are the happiest people ever with each other. Although he had to struggle all his life, Alfred has only grown even more empathetic and has plans to do more for the people and animals than he already does. He takes good care of his employees. He understands the pain of hunger and struggles as he has seen-it-all in his struggling days. He doesn't want anyone to go through such pain. Every Tuesday, Alfred feeds the destitute people outside St. Anthony’s Shrine and has worked to provide food to people during the Sangli Flood, Kolhapur Flood and Pandemic, recently. Alfred is also known for rehabilitating homeless people on the roadside with some hygiene makeovers, clothes and food. Even in his struggling days when he was not financially firm, he donated 70% of his income to Church. He makes various donations to old-age homes, orphanages and institutions for the deaf and dumb. He is truly a person with a Big heart! He has some bigger philanthropic plans in the future. He envisions building a farmhouse for old people who have been abandoned by their family members, and a home shelter for stray dogs. He wants to continue feeding a larger number of deprived people. Let's hope he succeeds in his goals of doing so. Of course, to execute such plans he will need more finances, so he has a vision for Flavour Street’s presence across the nation. He is working on establishing Quick Service Restaurants, Cafe and fine Dining models of Flavour Street. Alfred’s favourite quote of all time is, “Have faith in yourself and work hard, you will never fail.” Even in his struggling days, he believed, `Koi kaam chota-bada nahi Hota, kaam, kaam ee hota hai.” Don't forget to scroll down to view their website https://flavourstreet.in/
- Is Media Law a red-carpet event?-Arunima Jha
Media Law sounds really glamorous but it’s not like all red-carpet events. Sadly, no red-carpet event for us; we generally don’t get invited to those. My work involves structuring deals and looking out the contract for distribution in the same way that you would try and finance the projects. Chances are if you look at all those little icons on your phone, many of them I would have already worked with. I also do a lot of work in the music space and an awful lot in the advertising space. You really need to have a great knowledge of the industry itself. The media industry is not a very organized industry as telecom or any other industry and sometimes it’s hard to find finance for content production. I think the other thing that’s really interesting in this region is that we have people from numerous languages and different cultures, so as a content creator that means finding more distribution outlets & that’s something that we’re already doing really well in Indian Media Industry. Most of my work is transactional so I generally tend to work on contracts, but the more interesting stuff is the regulatory stuff i.e. what can I say and what I cannot say. I do a lot of at-work advertising so we will be looking at the ASCI rules and the CPA, and CCPA to interpret a particular matter. And that to me is more interesting because it is very nuanced and reliant on what the government’s view is of particular content. So, you’re not just looking at the boldface words but you’re looking at the intention behind those words & trying to work within the guidelines to get the content that you want. I find that sort of work really interesting. It would be helpful if there are more content outlets potentially now with technology having an impact. We also have social media streaming services such as Netflix all of that I mean also has an impact on the legal industry right now. Well the change, the big change for me is that most of my clients are now not necessarily sitting in India but they’re sitting out across the region generally overseas or in the US or Europe and they’re looking and at this market and trying to work out how they can infiltrate Indian market and bluntly get revenue from the consumers that are sitting in this market. So, what we’re trying to do then, is we’re trying to get an understanding of what the cultural norms are here to somebody in Los Angeles or New York or in Frankfurt who has zero concepts of what this region actually stands for. In a sense, a lot of our laws are reflective of what society wants. They’re not dictating but they’re reflective. Even the great thing about the Covid shutdown globally was that people immediately went to content as their first choice of things to do outside, after obviously learning how to bake bread, we all got done in the first month. So of course Media industry is ever-evolving and so are the laws. This book has received appreciation & blessings from my legendary guru world-renowned Scientist Padma Vibhushan Dr.Raghunath Mashelkar sir. Do grab your copy. The book is live on Amazon https://www.amazon.in/dp/8195962785?ref=myi_title_dp The subject of stem cells has a high priority in the media. Although we have made significant progress in our scientific understanding, the clinical application of stem cells is still in its infancy, and the actual stem cell therapy practiced today is a form of bone marrow transplantation. A brief introduction to stem cells is provided, explaining what stem cells are and what scientists do with them. Over the past few decades, our understanding of stem cell biology has improved dramatically. Many types of stem cells have been found in tissues commonly thought to be incapable of regeneration in adults, particularly the heart and brain. There is vast interest in stem cells from biologists and clinicians who see the potential for regenerative medicine and future treatments for chronic diseases like Parkinson's, diabetes, and spinal cord lesions, based on the use of stem cells; and from entrepreneurs in biotechnology who expect new commercial applications ranging from drug discovery to transplantation therapies. Stem cell biology has huge potential for advancing therapies for many distressing and recalcitrant diseases, and its potential will be realized most quickly when as many people as possible have a good grounding in the science of stem cells. Content focused on the basic science underpinning stem cell biology Covers techniques of studying cell properties and cell lineage in vivo and in vitro Explains the basics of embryonic development and cell differentiation, as well as the essential cell biology processes of signaling, gene expression, and cell division. The book puts emphasis on stem cell behavior in its biological context and on how to study it. Throughout, the approach is simple, direct, and logical. It explains in straightforward, non-specialist language the basic biology of stem cells and their applications in modern medicine and future therapy. To understand the developmental processes of complex life systems, to manipulate cells to change them, to perform tasks in carefully controlled ways, and to understand the potential this technology offers in the medical field, this book is for you. Great for students and readers. Students and readers are familiar with new stem cell technology. They understood developmental biology at the cellular level and the potential use of stem cells for therapeutic purposes. Stem Cell Science is the ideal book for undergraduate or graduate students interested in stem cell biology, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and other scientific and biological topics
