- Ruturaj Gaikwad : Breaking the door of selection- An Article By Ashwin Jangam
After an impressive stint in IPL 2021, the youngster and future star of India, Ruturaj Gaikwad has left the cricketing world to take his notice yet again. For all the good reasons, he has hit the headlines. Continuing his purple patch, he has amassed 603 runs in 5 matches crossing the 3 digit mark 4 times in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy . He ended up joining the elite group of Virat Kohli, Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Paddikal to score 4 centuries in a single domestic 50-over tournament. Earlier this year, the orange cap holder scored 635 runs in the IPL and was one of the primary reasons for the Chennai Super Kings to win the tournament. Everyone noticed the "spark" he had within. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy , he was appointed as the skipper of Maharashtra . And leading from the front he scored 136, 154, 124, 21 and 168. These knocks have not just helped his team Maharashtra win the game, but have also made the national selectors consider his name for the South Africa series, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him in the playing eleven in the ODIs. Courtesy : Google This is not the first time his performance make the fans feel so. In his stint for India A, in a series of 5 matches, he had a staggering average of 99. Although it was difficult to find a place in the team because already many other proven players were warming the bench. Selectors could not select him for the national side, however the most successful captain of India, MS Dhoni was impressed with him and made sure Ruturaj was selected for Chennai Super Kings in 2019 IPL. There is an interesting story about their first meeting. MS had come to the stadium to watch his friend Kedar Jadhav bat for Maharashtra when he saw Gaikwad for the first time. Gaikwad, while playing was hurt during the match, but still went on to play for the team with the injury. Eventually, he was dismissed, but his courage impressed MS, who visited Ruturaj in the hospital and left a note saying "get well soon ". Furthermore, the captain cool was left awestruck with the thinking of Ruturaj. In 2019 IPL, Ruturaj was not a part of the playing eleven. And in a match against CSK lost to KKR in a close encounter, due to the quickfire knock of Andre Russell. That's where post the match Ruturaj went on to Dhoni and suggested a few things which would have got Dre Russ out. Impressed Mahi told the plan he was trying to get Russell out, and said to Ruturaj, "you have a sharp cricketing mind, be involved in the game likewise I'm future". Knowing his potential and sharp cricketing mind, Mahendra Singh Dhoni backed Ruturaj in the 2020 IPL, despite the first few failures with the bat. And the results were in front of everyone. He smashed a hat-trick of half-centuries in 2020 IPL last matches and went on to win the orange cap in IPL 2021 . In between the two legs of IPL2021, he made his debut for Men in Blue in the T20s against Sri Lanka. He didn't perform up to the expectations, but his recent form in IPL 2021 and Vijay Hazare Trophy is making the selectors think of his name for the ODI series. Ruturaj is a great player of both, swing and spin. He is naturally talented, which is why, despite being skinny, he manages to hit long sixes. He has a negligible gap between his bat and pads when he plays shots. Most of his runs come from a straight bat. He hardly tries to go across the line with a crossed bat, which makes it difficult for bowlers to breach his gap between bat and pads. The result can be seen now when he is scoring non-stop centuries. He is a calm headed cricketer. No one has seen him lose his temper. He doesn't sledge the opposition, but he loves to answer the people who sledge him with his bat, something which we saw during the CSK encounter with RR. He is someone, who can make it to the list of elite players in the world. If utilized properly, he can be a boon to Men in Blue. With increasing competition for the opening slot, it would be interesting to see if he is selected or not. One can only hope, he gets a chance in the playing eleven and makes a mark in the chance. After all, he is the future superstar of India . We wish him all the best for the same. Author:- Ashwin Jangam (Cricket Analyst, Host, Poet, Entertainer ) Insta I'd:- cricket_creativity

Creating a WOW moment on the topic of the eve ‘Happiness is your birth right’ and we must appreciate what we have as happiness is to enjoy what we have, she enthusiastically introduced the Trainer of the eve, Prof. Dr G. C. Kavitha. Prof. Dr G. C. Kavitha started with a statement that she want to inspire if not all then some and advised that her session would be a combination of three stories as she want the people to reach the extent of happiness she is expecting and asked everyone to imagine themselves in those situations. The first story she narrated started with imagining that one has got feedback on his/her work. Your good work has been appreciated however there are some recommendations for you too to improvise and raised a question that how would be your state of mind? The second story stated that you wake up in the morning and the moment you go to your balcony, you see some flowers blooming, birds chirping in the sky. You feel the aroma of coffee and you get your coffee. Just before you could have sipped, somebody come and knocked the coffee off. She asked what is your state of emotion? In the third story, she stated that you and your best half (could be your friend, life partner or anyone whom you are very closed to) enter into a tug of war due to differences. She continued that in conversation you and your best half-point out the mistakes and claim how you ignored it and asked that did it happened with you too? She added that why did she ask the above questions is that we human beings are hardwired to identify something more negative. She said that one cannot create happiness. When a person can reduce the negativity, eventually one starts to see the positive side of it. She added that when one sees something fearful coming up, one tends to protect oneself as the very first intention for each one on this earth is to survive. She mentioned that fear can be categorized under 5 major categories as under: 1. Fear of extinction (death) 2. Fear of mutilation (damage or injury) 3. Fear of separation (parting) 4. Fear of autonomy (lack of freedom) 5. Fear of ego (losing self-image) She highlighted that every human being is brought up with certain belief systems and certain values, and we perceive ourselves, others and the world based on our belief system. This belief system does come in because of our nurture. There are a lot of unless and until the list of activities that are considered as parameters of our success or well-being. She said the above questions related to the three stories form a part of it as all these are variables that remove happiness from our lips. We also tend to minimise as we do not take or give the credit. People also miss happiness is becoming judgemental about situations and losing the happiness quotient. If we attach our happiness with materialistic benefits, we would become happy but the depth of it would be saturated at a certain point of time and we wouldn’t be realising the same after some time (it could be from max one to five years). One needs to remove the negativity and materialistic benefits to remain happy for a lifetime as this is your life and Happiness is your birthright. At last, Dr Supriya Kumaravelan Co-chairperson of Positive Thoughts gave the vote of thanks to Prof. Dr G. C. Kavitha for sharing great insight about how to become happy and stay happy life long and giving her precious time on Thunderbolts and the session was ended by virtual felicitation with the certificate to the Trainer Prof. Dr G. - Yuvraj Singh and 6 sixes that increased India's importance in the cricketing world
19 September 2007 is a date which every cricket fan remembers fondly. The inaugural edition of the T20 world cup was made special by the inning which happened on this day. Late night at around 1 am, Indians burst in joy seeing the piece of leather connecting with the wood to land into the stands 6 times in an over. The cricketing world was in awe of the 36 runs in an over, scored by the flamboyant batsman, Yuvraj Singh , who made it into the history books for numerous reasons. It was not the first time someone had achieved the feat of 6 sixes in an over, but it was the first instance of it happening when the opposition was strong and the match was crucial. The six sixes and the fastest fifty coming just off 12 balls helped India win the do or die match against England by a margin of 18 runs. It also boosted the confidence of the young men in the Blue side, who went on to win the world cup. The world cup victory was the primary reason for BCCI to think about a T20 league, which eventually led to the experimental edition of IPL in 2008 which turned out to be a huge success. The success came in both terms, financial terms and popularity terms, resultant of which Indian cricket started generating revenue subsequently making the cash-rich BCCI increase its value in world cricket. All of it happened due to one man, Yuvraj Singh, who brought Indian cricket into the limelight with his feat. The sixer king has achieved numerous records, but to everyone's surprise, cricket was not the first thing he wanted to do in his life. He wanted to be a skater. It was his father Yograj Singh' s influence, who wanted his son to follow in his footsteps. Little did he know, that Yuvi would not just follow in his footsteps, but set a benchmark for every player who plays the game. His father's dedication, along with Yuvi's efforts and style gave the world one of the most stylish left-handers in the world. He dominated domestic cricket like a boss. His domination can be witnessed when the legend MS Dhoni could not help but show Yuvi's character in his biopic portraying him as a treat to watch, but a threat to the opposition. His innings of 358 being more than an entire score of Bihar 357, speak the volumes of his threat. His consistent performance like this earned him a place in U-19 2000 world cup. With Yuvi starring for India, Men in Blue junior lifted the U-19 world cup in 2000 under the leadership of Mohammad Kaif. Yuvi was awarded the man of the tournament for his all-around display on the field. Since then every world cup India won, Yuvi played a vital role in it. His heroics in the U-19s earned him the maiden call up for India. He got the chance to bat for the first time against mighty Australia in ICC champions trophy 2000, where he let the world know his name. He scored a magnificent knock of 84 off 80 balls against the Aussie attack with the likes of McGrath, Brett Lee, Jason Gillespie and others. His quickfire knock helped the team score good and India won the match by 20 runs. It was the same match that became famous for a rare sight of God of the cricket Sachin Tendulkar sledging McGrath. Yuvi then continued to perform for the Men in Blue in all three departments. The U-19 duo of Kaif and Yuvraj made it impossible for the opposition to score through cover and point with their electrifying fielding. Not to forget the rocket arm throw of Yuvi, which hardly missed the target. He continued to be a part of the team with ups and downs, but he came with full might in the 2007 T20 world cup. Being in the team as one of the seniors of the game, he performed like one. His sixes gave Stuart Broad nightmares for days. His six off Brett Lee sailed into the stands, and his innings of 70 in 30 balls, ensured the mighty Aussie defeat for the first team in ICC knockout since 1999. Even though Shahid Afridi was the man of the tournament in that world cup, it was Yuvi who was the real man of honour for India who helped them lift the cup. In the 2011 world cup , Yuvi repaid the favour of God of the cricket by accomplishing his ultimate dream to win a world cup for Team India. Yuvi's selection was a shock due to his slump of form before the world cup, but he silenced the media and critics with her stellar show. He amassed 362 runs and scalped 15 wickets in the tournament. His courage was visible when he was vomiting blood on the field against West Indies, but was adamant to be on the crease. His illness didn't stop him to perform and he played the best knocks in the entire tournament. His courageous act and stellar performances earned him the Man of the Tournament award yet again. He roared dominantly and soared high to help India lift the world cup after 28 years. It was impossible to win the world cup without Yuvi. However, his bravery also did some harm to his body. He was diagnosed with cancer, and the whole world was left in utter shock to see the champion in a state of illness. Every single cricket fan wept when they came to know that he carried the tumour inside his body throughout the tournament because he wanted India to lift the cup. Everyone prayed for his speedy recovery, and just like a champion, he defeated the illness soon. However, his resurrection was going to be difficult after the illness. But he was determined to roar yet again. And boy, he did that in style. In his first appearance after recovering from the illness, he took the attack on Aussie bowlers to smash 77 runs off 35 balls, allowing Indians to win the T20 game in 2013. His towering six made the cricket world witness the vintage Yuvraj which they always loved to see. He then performed for the team a few more times again but decided to retire from the game sometime later. However, he continued his good work for a noble cause for cancer awareness and treatment by starting his foundation You-We-Can. His foundation continues to bring the lost smiles back on the faces of people by curing them. Courtesy: Sportslibro Yuvraj may not play the game at the international level anymore, but the legacy he left is huge. His contribution to Indian cricket is immense and irreplaceable. He is one of the best all-rounders ever to have played the game. His dominant performances in all three departments were always the x-factor for India. His elegant backlift saw the stylish shots coming from his bat, his bowling made the three stumps difficult to remain in the same position for too long, his fielding saved many runs for the team, and his rocket arm throw caught the batsmen short increasing their travelling distance to the pavilion. His champion spirit, on and off the field will always be remembered. He will always be mentioned as a fighter, who defeated everything coming his way, leading to his victory. His fighting spirit will inspire generations to come. We wish he lives the longest possible life and continues to inspire people. - CACTUS is ready for global growth by going remote-first
Cactus Communications (CACTUS), a technology company accelerating scientific advancement, has announced its transition to a remote-first company for all its 1,200 employees across nine locations globally. It is one of the first companies in India to join a small but growing list of firms across the globe that are embracing remote-first— companies that have office locations but do not require their employees to work from them. Yashmi Pujara :Chief Human Resources Officer_Cactus Communications - Copy “Three hundred and twenty people joined CACTUS in the seven months leading up to October 2021, and 50% of our new hires are from locations where we don’t have physical offices, such as Jaipur, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, and many others,” said Yashmi Pujara, Chief Human Resources Officer at CACTUS. “Remote-first does not mean that we will not have offices or that our people can’t work from an office. It means that in everything we do at work, we will adopt a remote-first mindset, making sure everyone, regardless of where they are working from, has an equal voice and visibility in the organization.” “We believe that talent is everywhere, an opportunity is not,” continued Pujara. “We are now no longer restricted to specific geographic locations, and we can provide opportunities wherever we find the right talent. Our people are currently spread across 14 countries and 165 different cities. In India, our employees are currently working out of more than 130 cities.” The move will see CACTUS expand its recruitment across the globe and pioneer new, post-pandemic working practices, including work from anywhere, asynchronous communication, and more. Through this move, CACTUS also aims to create employment opportunities in smaller towns where such opportunities might be scarce, thereby mitigating the multiple challenges posed by workforce migration to overpopulated big cities and contributing to a more fulfilling and sustainable future for the employee, organization, and planet at large. Abhishek Goel,CEO-Cactus Communications “While the world was forced into an 18-month experiment with remote work, we’ve been thinking about embracing remote-first for a long time,” said Abhishek Goel, CEO and Co-founder, CACTUS. “The primary reason behind our adoption of a remote-first culture is our evolution as a global company. When too many people are concentrated in a specific office location, the loudest voices are the ones closest to you. With customers in over 160 countries, we want to be close to them and responsive to their needs. We also want employees across the globe to contribute equally to the direction of the company.” To develop a remote-first model, the company surveyed employees to better understand their work preferences and challenges. Leaders found that 86% of employees wanted flexibility in how and where they worked, with 38% preferring full-time remote work. A core team then benchmarked other remote-first companies and spoke with industry thought-leaders to learn best practices. Several pilots on various work practices were introduced to gain insight into what would work best for the company. This included everything from introducing virtual water cooler events and virtual whiteboards to creating a communications charter, designating remote champions, developing guidelines on asynchronous communication, and launching a remote-first handbook. The company also created a new role, Head of Remote-First, hiring Jason Morwick to lead the company’s transition. “For many people, working remotely during the pandemic has highlighted just how much of rethink working practices need going forward,” said Jason Morwick, Head of Remote-First at CACTUS. “Businesses cannot replicate what they used to do face-to-face over a video call. Before the pandemic, people would gather in a room in front of a whiteboard to discuss an idea or problem, but that rarely works over a video call. Now, we are revising the process – how we are developing solutions. If done correctly, we believe that we can accelerate our business decision-making while engaging a larger number of employees.”
- Dishman Carbogen Amcis Ltd announces successful results from the partnership with Boston University
Dishman Carbogen Amcis Limited, a global outsourcing partner for the pharmaceutical industry, welcomes the results of a new Clinical Research Study which shows that oral 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 (Calcifediol) was able to correct vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency in patients with COVID-19 and that it resulted in improved immune function by increasing blood lymphocyte percentages. The research was supervised by Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Boston University School of Medicine and supported in part by a grant from Dishman Carbogen Amcis Ltd’s wholly-owned subsidiary CARBOGEN AMCIS B.V. Dishman Carbogen Amcis Ltd (DCAL) is a leading global manufacturer of vitamin D plus its analogues and related APIs with over 70 years of experience in the field. DCAL partnered with Dr Michael Holick , MD, PhD, professor of medicine, physiology and biophysics and molecular medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and its team for the Clinical Research Study to be run by the Tehran University of Medical Sciences on treatment with 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 (Calcifediol) of hospitalized patients with COVID-19. The study showed that patients receiving the 25-hydroxy metabolite had, in comparison to those receiving a placebo, favourable demonstrably more favourable development of their immunological defence against COVID-19. Thus, dosing the metabolite significantly increased the blood levels as well as the comparative percentage of lymphocytes in the blood, i.e. a reduced Blood Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio. “A person’s vitamin D status is defined as the person’s blood level of the vitamin’s 25-hydroxy metabolite (Calcifediol), i.e. the vitamin’s natural form in circulation which the body can quickly access and finally activate. Therefore, Dishman Carbogen Amcis Ltd has for years studied the effects of dosing either the vitamin and/or the metabolite . Said Dr Scott Miller, Sr. Scientific Advisor at DCAL , “Our support of this study of Calcifediol in the context of COVID-19 was motivated by the fact that the blood level of the metabolite can be increased more rapidly and more distinctly if supplemented directly.” To support the Clinical Research Study CARBOGEN AMCIS B.V. (Netherlands) provided the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (Calcifediol) and the capsules and placebo were made at Dishman Carbogen Amcis Ltd’s plant in Bavla, India, specifically for this study. “There are several studies that have reported that a good vitamin D status i.e. a healthy blood level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D, can not only dramatically reduce the risk of being infected by this deadly virus but also a higher vitamin D status reduced risk for serious symptoms and death caused by the virus.” Commented Dr Michael Holick. “This controlled study similar to the one conducted in Spain recently [1] demonstrate that the rapid improvement in vitamin D status can improve positive outcomes for patients infected with COVID 19.” “The COVID-19 pandemic hitting the world in early 2020 resulted in the unprecedented global focus of R&D efforts and of solidarity in coping with the sudden and unexpected high need for intensive care beds, which didn’t hit all countries to the same degree.” Said Arpit Vyas, Global Managing Director of Dishman Carbogen Amcis Limited : “It is important for us to play a role in this new challenge, not only for our corporate interests but to contribute to the possible future of the fight against COVID-19. Therefore, to follow up with this Clinical Research Study, Dishman Carbogen Amcis Ltd is currently conducting a second round of study in a larger scale in India.” For more information about the study supported by Dishman Carbogen Amcis Limited: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1530891X21012593 [1] “Effect of Calcifediol treatment and best available therapy versus best available therapy on intensive care unit admission and mortality among patients hospitalized for COVID-19: A pilot randomized clinical study” https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0960076020302764?via%3Dihub

The entire community acknowledged his diligent efforts to spread positivity and build a community of like-minded people filled with motivation and satisfaction. Creating a WOW moment on the topic of the eve ‘Be Kind To Your Mind’ the host enthusiastically introduced the Trainer of the eve, Mr Vikkas Nagru, Founder & Director – Brain Infinity and has impacted more than twenty-one thousand lives through stress-free education and live workshops. Inviting community members to enhance their critical thinking, problem-solving skills and living the moment the host invited Mr Vikkas Nagru to impact the lives he has been doing. Mr Vikkas Nagru started with an example of boarding Delhi Metro and connected it with the thought of the creation of Positive Thoughts by Dr Gaurav Sharma. He added, if one is feeling dull, or if one is low or not up to the mark one should join the Positive Thoughts family and the community members would make the shift and bring positivity within oneself. He further added that he started a mission three years ago by the name ‘SAFAI’ which in Hindi means ‘cleaning’. It was started from his home and for him ‘SAFAI’ is Stress-Anxiety Free All India. He said, that you are only responsible for change of mind as it is in your hand. It means that if you are not able to control yourself, then you are a puppet of someone else’s hand and added that our brain believes in simple things. With an example about research conducted on college students, he shared that if one can grasp complex things, he/she is considered to be smarter but the fact is that our mind evades it. To grasp anything, we have to activate the prefrontal and frontal lobes of our mind as otherwise, it will be a cause of stress. One has to uplift the mind to complete any activity and raise a question, do you do any brain warm-up exercise before taking up any assignment or making a decision? With an example, he clarified that how players and athletes are highly trained and focussed about their performance where-in we as a common man get annoyed by the little raised voice of our family members. He further added that the soldier on the front is also focussed and even in a very thin line of life and death, he is making a decision that is factoring his nation. This is only because they have tuned their brain to focus on what is right not only for them but for the team (a nation in the case of soldiers) they are part of. He shared four proven techniques to activate the frontal mind as under: 1. Simple arithmetic calculation He indulged the community members in an activity originally done by Dr Raita Kawashima in Japan. He presented some simple arithmetic additions and stated that this is required as with this simple exercise you open up the prefrontal lobe of your brain and prepare yourself for the upcoming tasks. He further added that any athlete or player before proceeding for the game does some physical activity and this is just a warm-up exercise to open up their body. About the activity, he said when this activity was conducted in Japan, they found whenever a person is doing such activity, he/she activates his brain and has a high level of state of mind. This makes it easy as the purpose of education is 360-degree development of your brain and not invite any hindrance. For critical thinking, one needs observation power, logical mind and temporal lobe for audio. With the contribution of the whole brain, anything which seems critical or complex becomes easy as the brain believes in simple things. 2. Surprise element He tossed a question about why a kid up to three years is attractive and said the child is doing a meditation 140 times a day. This is because for him/her there are many WOW moments as the child never fails to respond. This Surprise element is a great facial exercise and helps one to remain young and active for more time. It is important not to seclude yourself and you may apply the ‘Fake it and Make It’ theory which means that you are enhancing your brainpower. It is a game of practice and the more you do it, you would overcome any mental state be it low or negative. 3. Be like a kid He asked the members to read the paragraph from down to up (the reverse direction). He stated that by doing this activity your entire brain is activated and you are highly focussed and concentrated. This thirty-second exercise is going to trigger up your mental state. With this activity, you as a parent, activate the brain of your child and with this, he would be able to grasp things better and this would also raise his/her confidence. This is effective parenting. Moving forward he stated that the coming era is going to be more competitive and we as a parent have to ensure that we prepare our children to cope up with that stress. As a child most probably up to the age of twenty-one, our only responsibility is to focus on academics/sports or any other activity to make our career. Once we enter the new phase of our life the number of activities increases with responsibility (social/financial etc..) and with this stress increases. As a person as well as a parent, we need to understand how to tune our brains. 4. How to tune brain ? Our right brain controls the left side of our body and our left brain controls the right side of our body. With the help of an activity, he showed how we can pass on two different instructions to our both brains using our fingers. He shared that with this activity we are tuning our brain to do multiple tasking in one go. This is an uplifting effect and you surround yourself with positivity as you can use your both brains and this helps to enhance your critical thinking with focus and you can change your mental state as per your choice. He concluded by stating that if we are controlling our brain, our mind, it means we are in a great state. But, if our brain, our mind is controlling us, then we are in the wrong hand. This means that we should not carry another person’s opinion every time and we should have our own opinion too. When we are ‘Kind To Our Mind’ we can create heaven with our positive mindset or vice-versa as creativity and innovation are very important as logical and analytical skills stop oneself from being creative. As the brain believes in simplicity, make your life simple. At last, Dr Supriya Kumaravelan gave the vote of thanks to Mr Vikkas Nagru for sharing his versatile techniques and giving his precious time on Thunderbolts. The session was ended by Dr Ina Singh by virtual felicitation with the certificate to the Trainer Mr Vikkas Nagru and the Host Ms Veena Harwani.
