From a Speaker to a TED-Ed & TEDx Advisor: How These Platforms Empower Women By Dr. Seema Tanwar

In today’s world, where voices shape narratives and ideas spark transformation, platforms that amplify authentic voices play a powerful role in building a more inclusive future. My journey—from standing on stage as a speaker to mentoring as a TED-Ed and TEDx advisor—has shown me first-hand how such platforms can empower women to step into their true potential.

Speaking on a global stage is not merely about delivering a talk; it is about owning one’s voice. For many women, the biggest barrier is not the lack of ideas but the hesitation to share them with confidence. Platforms like TED-Ed and TEDx create safe yet powerful spaces where women can express their perspectives, challenge stereotypes, and present ideas that can influence communities and industries.

3 years back, I presented my research on Nuilding back better, talking about how a silence in pandemic is brewing amongst us, with delays in development amongst early childhood years. It was an eye opener for many educationists and also gave me a huge platform to present my research and thoughts. 

When a woman takes the stage, she does more than share a story—she becomes a role model. Her journey, struggles, and insights resonate with countless others who see their own dreams reflected in her words. These platforms encourage women to speak with clarity, courage, and conviction, helping them realise that their experiences and ideas have immense value.

Beyond the spotlight, the journey of preparing a talk is equally transformative. The process involves deep reflection, refining thoughts, and discovering the power of storytelling. As a TED-Ed and TEDx advisor, mentoring speakers—especially women—has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work. Watching them transform from hesitant storytellers into confident thought leaders is truly inspiring.

What makes these platforms unique is their ability to build communities of thinkers, creators, and changemakers. Women who participate often find themselves part of a supportive network that encourages collaboration, mentorship, and lifelong learning. This community becomes a catalyst for new initiatives, businesses, social impact projects, and leadership journeys.

In many ways, empowerment begins with visibility. When women are given the opportunity to share their voices on credible, global platforms, they gain not only recognition but also the confidence to lead, innovate, and inspire. Their stories encourage younger generations of girls to believe that their ideas matter and that their voices deserve to be heard.

My journey has reaffirmed a powerful belief: when women speak, the world listens—and when platforms exist to amplify those voices, the impact multiplies.

As I continue this journey as a speaker, mentor, and advisor, I remain committed to encouraging more women to step forward, share their ideas, and claim their space in conversations that shape our future.

Because every idea has the power to change the world—and every woman deserves a stage to share it.
