Bleed Blue. • Magician is no more, but his magic will remain forever

The world was stunned by the sudden and unexpected demise of Shane Warne. No one knew that the life of the magician who would turn the ball so beautifully would take such an unexpected turn. His sudden exit from the world has left an unfilled void in the hearts of cricket fans. Every cricket fan mourned the death of the superstar. The magician is no more, but the innumerable memories he gave to the cricket lovers will forever be alive. When one speaks of spin bowling, the first name which comes to mind is undoubtedly Shane Warne. He is not the leading wicket-taker, but he is undoubtedly the greatest spinner to have ever played the game. In a game dominated by the batter, it is highly unlikely for bowlers to be a household name. But not the case if you are Shane Warne. What makes his skillsets even special is the fact that he comes from a country that is not known for spin bowling. On the contrary, when the majority of the spinners who ruled the game came from the Indian subcontinent countries, the greatest of all came from Australia. Warne had his lethal weapon of leg-spin, which bamboozled the batter with his supreme turn. His flippers ripped the stumps, and his leg-spin astonished not just the batters, but also the umpires. There are several instances of his unbelievable turn, but the most memorable one has to be "Ball of the Century " which ripped through Gatting's imagination and hit the stumps along with hitting the headlines of the newspapers. Few other memorable instances include his famous setup of Stewart who was bowled by a flipper, 2 years after Warne's debut and the Strauss dismissal when the leg stump was removed from its position out of nowhere, in 2005, 2 years before he retired from international cricket. In a career spanning one and half decades long, he made the most experienced batters look like school kids. Barring a handful of the batters, he surprised every other batter he played against at least once in their career. With only 10 maximum wickets possible in decades-long ODI, and 20 in tests, a bowler crossing over 500 wickets overall is an achievement in itself. But the legendary Warne has a mammoth total of 1001 international wickets to his name. 708 of which have come in tests, and 293 came in ODI's. If Australia was the most dominant team for a decade or more, Shane Warne and his magical bowling were one of the strongest and permanent pillars of the team. His magic of spin made it possible to take wickets of opposition even on the pitches which offered little or no spin. The world loved his spin, as much as they loved his battles with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. One can never forget the instance when both of them were blessed to meet the legendary Sir Donald Bradman. If anyone would be remembered the most for their contribution to the Australian team after Don Bradman, it would be Shane Warne. The truth is, great players like Shane Warne never die. They remain forever in the hearts of fans as memories and act as inspiration for future generations to come. The blonde-haired threat to the opposition will continue to bamboozle the next generation through the recorder clips of his bowling. The man who made leg-spin great, the man whose magic left the world in admiration and awe will always be immortal. This is why, even if the magician is no more, the magic of his skills he will always be alive and will continue to inspire generations till there is life. Rest in Peace magician. • Challenges and impacts of agricultural biotechnology on developing societies

Agricultural productivity in developing countries must advance more rapidly to meet growing food demands and raise incomes while protecting the environment for future generations. Agricultural biotechnology has the potential to play a large role in this achievement. Among the potential benefits of the technology is an increase in the productivity of tropical commodities to meet future food needs and new opportunities for the use of marginal lands. Transgenic crops represent promising technologies that can make a vital contribution to global food, feed, and fibre security. There are about 790 million undernourished people in developing countries whose food intake is insufficient to meet basic energy requirements continuously. It shows that basic agricultural biotechnology research is costly and too demanding of scientific skills for the limited resources of most of the developing countries. Biotechnology developments need high inputs of finance which are in short supply in most developing nations. There has been a tendency to spread investments in research and extension over a large number of institutions, rather than developing a few quality ones. Many developing countries tend to spread their limited financial and human resources thinly across diverse agricultural biotechnology activities and research agencies. Developing countries have not established strategies of identifying and setting priorities for their agricultural biotechnology R and D. They continue to operate with isolated, competing and often scientifically weak research agencies. The general public and farmers, in particular, are not informed about the nature of the technology and its potential benefits and risks. Agricultural extension has a great role to play here through mounting awareness campaigns on biotechnology product information and disseminating proven and reliable biotechnology products. Transgenic crops like maize, rice, wheat, soybean and cotton are among the top priorities for the agricultural biotechnology industries. There are undoubted benefits from the use of transgenic organisms but it is important to ensure that such systems do not cause problems of safety to people and the environment. Consumers have shown a willingness to pay more for better and more convenient products and reject products that do not meet their expectations. The risks from any new technology are divided into those inherent to the technology and those that transcend it. Transcendent risks are the social, economic, and cultural factors that may distort or obstruct its benefits. The major negative impacts of agricultural biotechnology include genetic erosion and the spread of un- desirable species and strains. Foods or food ingredients derived from genetically modified organisms (GMOs) must be considered to be as safe as, or safer than, their traditional counterparts before they can be recommended as safe. There are concerns that GM products may aggravate the prosperity gap between developed and developing nations by replacing tropical agricultural exports with products of developed societies. Increased milk production from fewer cows by the injection of genetically engineered hormones will certainly result in many small farmers being put out of business. How can we ensure that most of the world's poor and vulnerable populations benefit from the benefits while being cautious of the risks? Individual countries need to identify their specific priorities and preferences in food production and harness the growing body of science and innovations in genetic engineering to address specific issues. Developing societies will need to develop and implement regulatory measures to manage any environmental, economic, health and social risks. In most developing societies, public sector investment is still the main source of finance for biotechnology R and D. Mobilizing the basic scientific skills usually found in universities to solve agricultural problems will require new policy and institutional arrangements and more financial resources. The enhancement of capacities to engage in the making of policies on agricultural biotechnology should be treated as a priority by national and international programmes. • The Kingdom of Atlantis Presents Conference on SDG explored innovation & sustainable solutions

People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership are the most crucial factors for humanity and their sustainability The systems-based approach recognizes that progress on one goal, in one place, could either undermine or enhance progress on other goals, there or elsewhere. With this motto, The Ministry of Sustainable Development-The Kingdom of Atlantis hosted a two days international conference on (26th and 27th February 2022) exploring Innovation and Sustainable Development Goals. The conference aimed to understand various innovative approaches to the SDGs and how we can move forward to develop cross-disciplinary, multidisciplinary, beyond boundary research and job opportunities at the Kingdom of Atlantis, other activities with our decentralised sovereign government to address the goals. This conference sought to facilitate knowledge and best practice exchange, as well as spur cross-disciplinary and beyond boundary collaborations to address the SDGs. Keynote speakers, panellists, and participants from across the globe shared perspectives, ideas, and innovative approaches to the Global Goals throughout the conference. By bringing together leading experts from across the globe and beyond, Beyond Boundaries enabled participants to share work, identify gaps in collective understanding, explore solutions and consider appropriate measures to address, and further, the SDGs. Throughout, discussions explored how we can move forward on developing cross-disciplinary and cross-boundary impacts-through research, global engagement, partnerships, teaching and community activities – that support the achievement of international goals and address global challenges. Overall, the SDG Summit confirmed the persevering with the sturdy dedication of the global network to the 2030 Agenda and to multilateral collaboration for attaining the SDGs via way of means of 2030 Key Messages from this International conference/SDG Summit: The dedication to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development stays steadfast at the best degree of the presidency and amongst stakeholders. Yet it's miles clean that the sector isn't on the right track to fulfil the SDGs via way of means of 2030. The destiny is now, and the Earth's structures are converting speedy. The SDGs can nonetheless be finished if the global network steps up the rate and ambition of its movements. Many international locations were proactively imposing the SDGs, incorporating them in rules and strategies, and outlining their long-time period imaginative and prescient for transformation to greater sustainable and simply economies and societies. However, the shared view is that the worldwide reaction isn't but sufficiently transformative. Most of the 21 objectives special for success via way of means of 2020 will in all likelihood now no longer be met and we aren't on the right track for attaining many different objectives via way of means of 2030. Governments can not do it alone; they're attaining out to forge new partnerships with civil society, businesses, and the medical and technological network. National plans ought to mirror a singly interconnected global, and deal with complicated flows of goods, capital, facts and people. For such efforts to be effective, it's miles vital that each international location pursue the SDGs as structures, completely spotting the interconnections throughout sectors, international locations and levels, from international to local. Positive synergies want to be harnessed and hard trade-offs want to be addressed greater speedy and effectively, Interventions may have more than one affects throughout the SDGs: human well being and capabilities; sustainable and simply economics; meals structures and vitamins patterns; strength decarbonization with ordinary get right of entry to; city and peri-city improvement; and international environmental commons. Across one's areas, governance, financial system and finance, person and collective motion, and technology and era are vital levers that could assist international locations to reap superb synergistic effects throughout the SDGs. While there may be enough know-how to behave now, it's miles key to make certain that know-how is to be had to people who want it. This calls for strengthening the technology-coverage interface and developing know-how structures in each country. Unequal get right of entry to to medical records and know-how structures is a chief impediment to the ordinary implementation of the 2030 Agenda, mainly for the Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States. Urgent motion ought to be taken via way of means of improvement companions to triumph over this deficit. Weaknesses in governance, corruption and declining civic area are principal boundaries to the SDGs and selling human rights and helping movements to foster peace and justice are critical for progress. The global is getting into a decade in order to be decisive for cutting-edge and destiny generations, and for all existence at the planet. Through the SDG Summit Political Declaration, Heads of State and Government pledged to make the approaching decade certainly considered one among motion and delivery. In this international conference, 28 countries have participated such as India, Indonesia, Croatia, Zimbabwe, Sweden, Viet Nam, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Egypt, Nigeria, Sri Lanka , Italy, Sudan, Romania, Greece, South Africa, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Tunisia Pakistan, Republic of Korea, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Israel, Bangladesh, Italy. • Rohit Sharma : the captain creating records

Within just 5 months of being India's full-time captain, Rohit has surpassed Morgan and Williamson to register the most wins as a T20 captain for the matches happening at home. Winning the total 16 T20 at home as captain, he has had the highest wins for any captain at home. He also surpassed MS Dhoni who had 13 and Virat Kohli who had 14 victories respectively in India. Also with the Srilanka series win, India registered its 12th consecutive T20I victory, which is the highest for any test playing nation. If looking at his form from 2008 to 2013, someone would have said that Rohit will lead India in future in all three formats, the person would've been termed as a fool. But fooling everyone like a boss, he did it. At this point, he is the captain to win IPL the most number of times, and within 5 months, he has become the captain to have the most international wins at home. He has a staggering record of captaincy both at the IPL and international levels. But what makes Rohit an amazing captain? The answer is simple. Rohit keeps things simple and allows the players to do whatever they want to. His game awareness is great and his field placements are spot on. In addition to this, he uses the bowlers optimally. His rotation of the bowlers does the trick for his team. In pressure situations or death particularly, his calm head taking the right decision to choose the bowler gives the team the required output. Speaking about the international level, Virat's team and Rohit's team had a major difference. Virat's team didn't have any other captain who could guide him to take decisions, while Rohit's team has Virat Kohli who guides him to make crucial decisions. The so-called claims "rift" by the media sources were deterred right in the first match of the West Indies series when one saw Virat helping Rohit set the field, and also suggest he take crucial DRS decisions. And just like Virat, Rohit believes in sacrificing his position at times to provide a youngster with a new opportunity. Virat has done it in numerous instances for many players, the latest of which have been when he let Shreyas and Surya bat at his position at which he dominated the world. Similarly, in the last match of the Sri Lanka series, Rohit demoted himself to make Ruturaj Gaikwad open the innings. He could have dented Ishan Kishan and opened alongside Ruturaj, but he did the opposite. This marks the difference between a captain and a leader. Rohit, Virat are leaders, and KL is a captain. Rohit has believed in giving opportunities to others. He likes to back the players. He made it big because he was backed. Despite having inconsistent performances, MS Dhoni allowed him to open the innings in the 2012 England series, which led to the resurrection of Rohit Sharma. And he continues the legacy of backing players in both, the IPL as well as domestic cricket. All these qualities make him a sensible choice as a skipper in limited over for Men in Blue. There has to be some kind of potential in a player when he is made the captain of the team consisting of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting. Fortunately for India, this potential was recognised by Sachin, who sacrificed captaincy and handed it over to Rohit. And Rohit proved god's decision right by winning Mumbai Indians the first (and Sachin Tendulkar the only) IPL title. Since then he has done wonders. An average winning percentage of 70 % in IPL, 82% in ODI, and 90 % in T20I show what a leader Hitman is. Although he has never captained for red-ball cricket, it would be interesting to see how he leads the Men in Blue in tests. Seeing his qualities, one can expect he excels there too. • The inning which made Virat a brand

Exactly a decade ago, the chubby boy from Delhi, and the former U-19 captain of India, Virat Kohli played one of the finest innings you will ever come across. The day marks the beginning of Virat turning into a brand for India and world cricket. With his aggression, he kept the Sri Lankan bowlers at bay and took the world by storm leaving them in his admiration. Since then, even till today, the best batter of the current generation, Virat has continued to rule the hearts of cricket fans across the globe. He is popular not just amongst the fans, but also across cricketers across the globe. Everyone loves to have him in his side or wants to do best when they play against him. One can guess his popularity when someone in PSL said that everyone is praying for Virat's 71st century. Even though the 71st has taken a lot of time to come, the fact that he has 70 centuries in the early years is an extraordinary thing in itself. But the most amazing century coming from his bat came exactly a decade ago from now. 28 February 2012, the Hobart crowd witnessed something very special. Before this, Virat had a few centuries, and most of it had come while chasing, but this 133 off 86 balls was something very very special. In the tri-nation series between India, Srilanka and Australia, India was playing a do or die match. Srilanka had scored a mammoth total of 320 runs, and to have a chance to qualify for the finals, India needed to chase the mammoth total in 40 overs. The task looked impossible. But not the case if you are Virat Kohli. As a player who loves to accept challenges, Virat accepted this one with both his hands. In the match, every Indian played beautifully. Sehwag, God of cricket Sachin and Gambhir played their part in the game. Then it was the turn of Virat to step in. And boy, he did that in some style. He thrashed the Sri Lankan attack in every possible way. It looked like he came on the crease as a set batter, and looked in complete flow. He displayed his immensely elegant array of strokes. His wristy flicks, his cover drives, his lofted drives were a treat to watch. His confidence was seen, when one of the finest bowlers, Malinga was thrashed for 24 runs in one over by the young Kohli. In the same over, Virat's bottom handed flick hit for a six, without moving his feet is a shot people played on repetition on YouTube. In the same over, he reached his century in 76 balls. The entire Hobart crowd applauded his effort. In the next 10 balls he played, he scores 33 runs more and led India to an unbelievable victory. India kept their hopes to the final alive, as they chased the total of 321 in 36.4 overs. The world was in the awe of the young gun. The headlines of the newspaper on the next day read "India doesn't fear any opposition, because it had a lethal weapon in the form of Virat Kohli". From that day, Virat continued to up his game, eventually becoming a top-notch player. In the next 3 weeks to follow, he scored his career-best 183 not out in Asia cup against archrivals Pakistan. In the same match, the world witnessed centuries of two best batters, Sachin and Virat. In the further days to come, Virat ruled world cricket like a boss. On the same date, 28 February 2016, he played a beautiful inning of 49 runs against Pakistan in a low scoring encounter in the T20s. Batters like Babar, Williamson, Root, Smith are great. But for the longest period, Virat has dominated this generation. And Virat's era truly started with this magnificent inning. The Chubby guy from Delhi went on to create and break records. The U-19 captain of the 2008 Indian team, led senior Men in Blue to a dominating position. Even when he is not the captain, hoarding in important ICC events depict him as the captain. Because, even though he is not captain, his era has not ended. His era will continue, sooner or later he will score his 71st century and will follow it with many more. But this special inning happening a decade ago will always be a special one for fans, and the man himself. • Power of Words in Life- Shivani Bhardwaj,

We remain so unaware of the power of our words, and utter them without giving them an ounce of thought, little it is that we realise that our actions, words & stupid jokes impact people and influences their beliefs about their esteem and integrity. Imagine somebody out there believes he’s a loser just because of you, because of a joke, a meme, a comment you made just to look cool or funny in front of your followers, but not everyone born with thick skin, not everyone can withstand the harsh criticism. Some are more vulnerable than others and become easily overwhelmed and disappointed in themselves. Your words could be a reason for someone’s heart to shatter, for someone to cry all night long. It can damage & traumatise someone beyond where language can reach and could scar someone for the rest of their lives. We refuse to even countenance the idea that some just have to struggle much more to reach minimum expectations. We all err, we’re all trying to figure out life, but instead of pouncing on someone’s flawed understanding for a more giggle, try to make them aware about their flawed understanding not by mocking them but with empathy, favour privacy and advising them, a little introspection into someone’s behaviour can reveal how they’re just staggering along to decide things on a basis of no knowledge. Did you know everything that you know now all the way along? Knowledge isn’t something we are inherently born with, we all learn by trial and error and while we’re all in this trial of life let’s rectify the errors of one another with love and empathy, the empathy we speak endlessly of but refuse to act upon when it’s required. This single alternation in our intention, let alone our behaviour, could improve a lot of things around us. Don’t be a reason for someone’s misery or sorrow. Don’t let the belief of superiority of the knowledge or facts that you’ve gathered be stamped all over your existence. Instead, put your knowledge & insight at the service of others and help each other to grow. The process of growth is a process of cultivation that we consciously and actively choose and while you’re making that choice for yourself, choose the same for everyone else around you too & contribute to each other’s accomplishments. LET’S HEAL AND GROW TOGETHER! Written By: SHIVANI BHARDWAJ (Educator, Researcher and Writer) LinkedIn
