- Let’s meet my professor,Sir - Dr. S. Lokegaonkar : Dr Pratik Mungekar
Let’s meet my professor, Sir, Dr S. Lokegaonkar. (He has worked as a senior professor, Head of Department, Dean of Academics, Controller of Examinations, Guide, Mentor, and alumni of VJTI, Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute Matunga, Mumbai) He taught me chemistry, textile chemistry, and a plethora of other professional skills. I met him after many years, and I gave all my books to him. When he came to know about my achievements and success graph, he got emotional and happy. He gave blessings to me and said in Marathi, "Mi Dhanya Zalo Tuzyasarkha Shishya Labhun Jivan Sarthak zale". This is the biggest blessing I’ve received and that too, coming from Dr Lokegaonkar Sir. Truly, I am blessed. Meeting Prof. after a long time is an experience par excellence. You suddenly feel that you have become younger. You start feeling all the love and care you used to feel when you were at your alma mater. One might not have the same relationship with all the teachers. There ought to be some favourites with the teachers also. But you feel as if you have been reunited with your family. The greeting of respect is my first reaction of mine, whereas showing grace is the first reaction of my ex-teacher. Then it starts a conversation between us about general introductions like "what are you doing now?" etc. The same question arises in my mind, "Sir, how's your current student with you?" etc. Depending on the time, more conversation takes place. The first thing we usually do at such a meeting is to bow down and touch our teacher's feet. Then we are automatically engaged in old stories and tales of our college days or the times we spent together. -Remembering other students, how and where they are, etc. It's just an amazing feeling to meet our professors. A teacher never expects anything from a student other than his coming of age in life as a good person to be worthy of his name and fame. A teacher is overjoyed when one of his students achieves celebrity in society. Sometimes we are so excited that we forget what to say and how to convey our true feelings to them. But our respect towards them and feelings of gratitude are usually reflected by our body language and eyes. There were only a few teachers who had taught me. They were so happy to see me, and even I was too excited. We had a lot to talk about. When you meet a teacher after leaving school or college, especially after a long time, I believe you realise how much he cares for you. They should be loved and respected. They don't expect anything from you other than a word of remembrance.

- Therapies should not be a taboo or social stigma: Mrs Monisha Sharma & Dr Isha Soni
We all love to stand out among our peers or in our social group. But sometimes being different comes with its own set of challenges. It is extremely difficult for a child with speech or motor delay to begin his/her education in a regular preschool. Many times, children do things that stand out differently or they behave differently. The teachers in the regular preschools fail to understand these kids or find it very challenging to even connect with them. Additionally, parents are burdened with running pillar to post for therapies in addition to attending the preschool programs. It is a task to get the appointment slots of renowned therapists and adjust your schedules to attend these therapy sessions, at times giving the preschool a miss. It’s a difficult choice to make between school and a therapy session. These are the true experiences of the parents of children with special needs like Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Difficulties, Down Syndrome and global development delay. Hence, Lexicon Rainbow Child Development Centre was conceived to give these children a balance between academics and therapies. It was founded in April 2019 under the able guidance of Mr Pankaj Sharma, President, Lexicon Group of Institutes and Mrs Monisha Sharma, Director, Lexicon Group of Institutes & Lexicon Rainbow Therapy and Child Development Centre along with Dr Isha Soni, Centre Head, Lexicon Rainbow and Senior Occupational Therapist. It's extremely distressing to see your child struggle and all the more difficult to accept it after validation from a doctor. One goes through the process of why me? But, it’s also important to realise it's only you as parents who can help your child. Stay Featured got the opportunity to speak to the mind behind the Lexicon Rainbow Therapy & Child development centre. We all love to stand out among our peers or in our social group. But, it’s also important to realise it's only you as parents who can help your child. Stay Featured got the opportunity to speak to the mind behind the Lexicon Rainbow Therapy & Child development centre. In conversation with Mrs Monisha Sharma, Director, Lexicon Group of Institutes & Lexicon Rainbow Therapy and Child Development Centre along with Dr Isha Soni, Centre Head & Senior Occupational Therapist at Lexicon Rainbow Therapy and Child development centre. What made you start Lexicon Rainbow Therapy & Child development centre? Monisha Sharma- The Lexicon Group of Institutes has grown from 19 to 16000 plus students today. Over the years, we have come across students with neurodiverse needs. Some of these were social, speech, emotional, academic, anxiety, and low self-esteem challenges. A handful of these students required more professional help despite all the love and care provided by the teachers in school. We wanted to create a safe space for these students with special needs where they are understood and received help from a team of child development experts. Moreover, they will benefit from the routine of going to a child development centre and receiving customised programs and special education daily. Over the years, we have seen a rise in these childhood development issues. Some of these issues like attention deficits, poor handwriting, and unclear speech are mild and can be easily resolved to do therapies by expert professionals. Any incident that made you realise that therapies should be given that can be a life changer for many. Monisha Sharma- A couple of years after starting Lexicon Rainbow, I came across a distant relative at a family function. His granddaughter who was 2 years old was not talking and lacked social skills. She was very self-absorbed in her world. I have seen at Lexicon Rainbow, how therapies can be life-changing when intervened early. It was difficult for me to confront my cousin's brother, but I did it knowing how immensely Early Intervention would benefit the child. Most of the time, people are unaware about these issues and the therapies that can be accessed for the child. We have seen that mostly it is difficult to convince parents of therapies- how do you manage to train parents and convince them to do therapy? Dr Isha Soni- Being a child expert professional, I have come across people from different walks of life. As per my experience, convincing parents depends on two major factors. The first one is “Acceptance”. For parents who are in denial of their child’s condition, words fall short to convince them for therapy, because in their head when there is nothing wrong with their child, the therapies aren’t needed. Some of them just come to take a consultation. Whereas, parents who have accepted that there are some issues present with the child, are more ready and keen to take help from the therapists. Secondly, the “literacy status” of the parents matters. During my medical education days back in KEM Hospital Mumbai, I used to get patients from low socio-economic strata in the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Department. It used to be extremely difficult to convince them by words. Rather, what helped then was another parent present there who has been taking therapy for some time. With them sharing their experience and the effects of therapy, they would get convinced. Now, during my 12 years of practice in Pune, I have mostly come across parents who are extremely well read and informed about their child’s condition, making it easier to explain and convince them about the same. We read in your profile on Handwriting without tears- can you explain this in detail? Dr Isha Soni- Handwriting Without Tears is a developmentally based multisensory handwriting program developed by Jan Olsen, an occupational therapist to improve fine motor skills using fun and interactive activities geared towards handwriting learning in a child with ease. This is an evidence-based curriculum to teach letters and numbers to a child without fight and fuss. It is also an extremely efficient program for students with learning difficulties, poor handwriting, and autism to learn to write correctly without making any mirror images or wrong letter formations. Share an experience where you felt proud to be a therapist. You can share an instance that may have touched someone's life for good. Dr Isha Soni- Well, there have been many such instances but I would like to share a recent one. So, a 9-year-old girl walked into my cabin with her parents. The parents told me that she has mild autism and seek therapy for the same. From the moment the girl walked in, I was convinced that this doesn’t seem to be typical autism. I took a detailed history and probed further about medical history checking for any form of seizure episodes. The parents promptly refused but talked about dizziness 8-9 times a day. That alarmed me and she had such an episode the next minute in front of me. I immediately knew that these are “absence seizures” and that they were just cited by ofparents to be dizziness. So, this girl went undiagnosed for long 9 years. These types of seizures are treatable with antiepileptic medications. I immediately referred them to a paediatric neurologist who confirmed the same diagnosis. This can have long-term irreversible effects on the brain of the child and even cause cardiac arrest in few cases if left untreated. I felt extremely content that day with making a difference in someone’s life. How do you manage multiple roles? Monisha Sharma- Life is nothing but an opportunity to live and lead the myriad of roles we have to play. Each one of us already manages multiple responsibilities, sometimes even without realising it. I think I can manage them with efficiency as I can prioritise and optimise my time well. I consciously work with my team to create processes and systems which ensure the least glitches, and this investment into the structure of a business model helps me utilise my time wisely. I believe that I should be 100% present wherever I am; so, when I am at work, I ensure I don’t think about my personal and family commitments, and when I enter my home, I ensure I don’t take too much of my professional life there either. Mantra for life. Monisha Sharma- Belief in your dreams and yourself. When you are driven by a passion and are willing to give your 100% to it, there is very little you cannot achieve. Providing therapies and dealing with kids and their parents can be very stressful at times. What is your mantra for keeping calm and managing your sanity? Dr Isha Soni- Ohh yes it can be very stressful. When you work so closely with the child and family, you tend to get emotionally involved with them. Their hardships become your sorrows too. It is very difficult to not feel bad for the child. So, I take it the other way by thinking that I am blessed and opportune towards making a difference in a child’s life and divert all my energies towards it. Seeing the child make small step-by-step progress and the parents’ happiness keeps me going!! Each one of us has our individuality, every child is different despite the same diagnosis. Hence, it is very crucial to have a customised plan for every child and there is no one size fits all approach. The approaches and methods also vary widely depending on the domain of developmental concern of the child. We may use various play -way methods, neurodevelopmental techniques or sensory integrative approaches whichever may be most beneficial for the child. There is nothing wrong to seek help in the form of therapies for oneself or the child. The taboo or social stigma is not helping your child anyway. Society or other people can’t make your child attain missing milestones, but a therapist can. These therapies are evidence-based and neurologically bring about a change in your child. This can change the functional and educational outcome of your child.
- Universal Sompo announces discount on World Organ Donation Day
To raise awareness about organ donation, Universal Sompo General Insurance Company has announced a 2.5% reduction on the yearly premium for its Complete Healthcare Plan. Furthermore, for policyholders who have subscribed to the plan, the insurer would pay all medical expenses for an organ donor’s treatment for harvesting of the organ donated up to the sum assured in the policy. World Organ Donation Day is observed on August 13th. Universal Sompo General Insurance Company's actions aim to raise awareness and eradicate any stigma associated with organ donation. Many people throughout the world are concerned about the procedure of organ donation, and many are ignorant of the significant impact it may have on people's lives. On the announcement, Mr Sharad Mathur, Managing Director and CEO at Universal Sompo General Insurance said, “One person can save up to eight lives of those suffering from chronic illness by pledging to donate their heart, kidney, pancreas, lungs, liver, intestines, hands, face, tissues, bone marrow, and stem cells. All thanks to the development in science and technology, in today’s time a person’s non-functional organ(s) can be replaced by a healthy organ donated by a loved one OR organ donor. Organ donation is possible for people of all ages. If a donor is under the age of 18, they must acquire consent from their parents or legal guardians before registering as an organ donor. Almost all insurers cover organ donation expenditures in their health insurance policies, especially since organ transplants are becoming more prevalent in the country. The number of donors is limited, and the high expense of therapy is an impediment. Universal Sompo strongly believes in supporting this societal cause of organ donation. They have hence announced a discount on the annual premiums of their flagship product - a complete healthcare plan to incentivise potential customers. All their customers expressing their interest in organ donation can avail of this discount at the time of buying the policy. This discount will be extended till the lifelong renewability of this policy. The Company has been tied up with MOHAN Foundation, an NGO that has been promoting Organ donation for last 25 years.

- Bond of Blood: Rakhi with a Twist
Amongst many things, the beauty of our country lies in the varied festivals that are celebrated across the length and breadth of our great nation – festivals celebrating deities, nature, seasons and even relationships. One such festival is around the corner, Rakshabandhan. Rakshabandhan, or Rakhi, celebrates the bond of love between brother and sister. As various stories ago, depending on which part of the country you hear them in, the essence of this festival lies in the promise of protection that sisters seek from their brothers and brothers vowing to keep their sisters safe and happy. While this is a beautiful sentiment, I have often wondered what about those people who have a same-gender siblings? Or even a single child, who has no sibling? For years, I have been tied rakhi to my cousins and I intend to continue with that practice. However, from this year, I have decided that I will tie rakhi to my younger sister also. It is a symbolic gesture to show that she has been y pillar of support in difficult times and continues to do so. My sister and I have always been labelled as non-conformists, rebels and sometimes eccentric too. This has been mainly because our parents brought us up in a non-traditional way (well, as much as they could) and encouraged independent thinking. Being parents of two daughters, they were often subjected to sympathy for the lack of having a son. This societal “concern” about the bleak future that awaited our parents when they grew old affected both of us equally. It strengthened our resolve to not just say but also prove it to the world that daughters are in no way less than sons. And I am proud to say that we did it! So, taking this belief a step further, assisted by wisdom acquired with age and more with facing hardships, I have decided to break from the “brother being the protector” norm. My sister has been my support and protector as any sibling should, and I will tie her to the rakhi this year and for all the years to come. I only regret not starting this sooner. Make Rakshabandhan the festival that not only celebrates the brother-sister bond but a celebration of sibling love. And even if you don’t have a sibling, use this occasion to show your appreciation to people who may or may not be bonded to you by blood, but are always there beside you when you need them. The world around us is changing and therefore, we need to change too - we need to learn to build a bridge between the old and the new. Our culture and traditions are a big part of our identity, but they need to evolve with the changing times, especially those traditions which widen the gender gap and foster gender-role stereotypes. This requires a huge mindset shift but even the smallest of efforts taken now will go a long way. - Middle-Class Boy from Suburbs Turn to Rapper : Hemant M Shinde
Being an Independent Artist from Suburbs of Ambarnath Mumbai, also Desi Hip-Hop Artist who Represent Himself from Rap, Shorts Films & Dance. Yes, I believe in Myself If you work hard nothing can stop you from achieving your goal it’s not always an easy journey to succeed in your life, time always bangs and Hammered you to turn from “Rock to Diamond”. I Was Born and Bought in Ambarnath the suburbs of Mumbai Maharashtra India I was introduced as a Musical Artist in India. Completed Education in Master of Commerce in ( Finance& Accounting), always having a dream of to Represent India at the International Level, Being an Indian Desi Hip-Hop Rapper is so easy and anyone can do it, but sorry it’s not so simple that people think of an Artist. Today I would like to share my Journey as a Middle-class Family boy who faced challenges, society's cruelty, Negative feedback, and Caste Hate. As I came from a Joint Middle-Class Family, in my childhood I saw my father’s struggle that time we were not financially stable even the basic needs we never demand from our father that’s the 90’s time I witnessed my journey only one man my father was working and the four of us my Mother Elder Brother, Sister and Me we fully depend on him. I know that situation was very difficult to even the school fees we not able to submit in time as there was a craze for Television if you have TV or Landline Phone you might be the rich person. My Brother and I usually went to our neighbour's Place to watch Tv from outside their door. Of time they switch off the tv while we came and they told us to go home as the electricity is not working. Even my mother saw that many times and discussed with my father about bringing the TV into our house from that time I saw some to the Rap videos on Tv I saw that before I did even not understand with they are saying but I loved to hear them. I always performed on the Street during the Ganesh festival, Garba Festival, New Year Celebration, and Orchestra. Many times I received a price of 100 RS, 20 RS and Kitchen Utensils Like ( Steel Glass ) but I always enjoy and appreciate myself something I received, while I heard the Society thinks about the Caste I came from a lower cast background yes it's true the society always have negative thoughts for us. In my school days I was one of the average students like you might see in the film “ Taare Zameen Par “ I was also not able to read or write spoke any language. Even one of my teachers told me in my school days to Live and take admission into the average school and she laughed. The whole day I was thinking about why she said that I don’t know but I am not able to forget those words from my mind. From that, I look towards a new journey of my college days as I am also a street performer my whole family relatives we went for a Village Picnic and I have written some Rap Named “Jai Bhim Rocks” the whole family and relatives loved that as I showed the social reality in that. Rather than a Rapper, I am also a dancer In the past Time there was a craze for Boogie Woogie& Dance India Dance show we went at night for audition till morning thousands of people were in the Lines as in Dance India Dance I had Cleared three rounds and been out in the fourth one that was the horrible time as I worked it for a long to get selected but what written in the destiny you will get that. Many auditions I have given Dance India Dance 1,2,3 seasons Mtv Auditions, V Channel Audition but sad to say always got rejected a lot of rejection in your life can damage you from inside. With my brother having his youtube channel we decided to create short films also based on what we saw in society. We created many films, WhatsUp Guys, Being Human, Swacch Bharat, Vission and Black & White I Assisted my elder Brother we received positive feedback from the people while people don’t know how we arrange money for the film we take money from parents some close ones and we published the Content. Life does not always have a negative impact if you are a true warrior you will get everything in your life. So we also make short films for Society as “ Women of goveli” the short Film where we achieved a National Awardee of India Yes Foundation Award. 1.5 Million film Participated we grab the best Student category Short Film Award, Directed by Kkunal Shinde(Indian film Industry) Assistant Director Hemant M Shinde as from that My film “Swacch Bharat” also being the Semi-Finalist in Switzerland Film Festival and Top 900 best short films in Ayuryog International film Awards. my frontline supporters were my family. Living in a joint family is both hard and adventurous. As lived , we were not financially stable fully stable. My parents were always there for me. However, society has always played a critical part in my life. They never helped and appreciated me for my work. But, I could not stop, I can't afford to do it. Hence, I supported myself, and invested time in my profession. As the days goes on I like the Old Hip-hop Rap Music listened to Snoop Doog& Eminem Dr Dre& Tupacand started to write RAPs in Indian DesiHiphop style. I was influenced by society and community problems and endeavoured to write RAPs addressing all those problems. In My Life I never thought that I was good at writing Rap Music some of the times I wrote my words in a Book but always had a fear if I lost that book what can I do so I also paste my Words on Whatsapp Family group were the only one I was and all are left that group that the good backup for me to store my words there. My life is full of struggle & hard work but I never backstop my goal because I know that I will do it. The public always had a different kind of opinion about me but I never entertained them my Mother and Father had a lot of hope in me that I always complete what I do. While Writing I am also searching Job because of the Money Problems as no one can invest their money in you, so I been selected for the Job and that company Help me more during my most Horrible time I even don’t have 10 Rs in my Pocket while the Interview my Boots whole soul been broken only one of my friend saw that I never forget that time, after my selection in Accenture my life got changed as I earned also I invest my Money in Studio and some of into My Home use. From that hard-earned money I created many Rap Music always based on the Society's Situation religion Caste hate I flow my words on that Rap Like Mumbaikar, Happy New Year, Kahani, Aashiqui, Time Machine, Kahani, Party Bro, Mahool, Kismat, Street Style. In a middle-class family, I never imagine that I can speak my words in Studio as my experience was so tremendous when the first time I Rap in Studio I don’t know about the BPM Beats scale or the Work where have to put Rap words into that and create a new Hip-hop Music. it's so cool to listen to but very hard to work on it. People's positive responses always help me to work more and gain more. Some people say good things some people say bad things but their opinions matter to me. It’s Not Possible to do everything at the same time, As I am a Rapper, Short Film Maker, and Dancer but I do not betray anything just focused on what I do is better for me in Future your attitude always impact society as I am always calm & Patient Person in nature I absorbed things of the society and set my mind that I can use it for my future Rap Project. In my New Rap Project Zindagi, Paisa, Shine, Yaad, and the Recent Rap I introduced Desi. Your Trust Your Focus matters Be Positive Stay Cool.
