HyCan 2025: Hyderabad’s Biggest Celebration of Pets, People & Purpose

In a pioneering partnership with GHMC and the Government of Telangana, HyCan 2025 will launch “Safe With Dogs”, a citywide public awareness campaign aimed at reducing fear, building empathy, and promoting responsible pet ownership.

This initiative aspires to make Hyderabad a truly dog-friendly and safe city, where pets and people coexist harmoniously. Pet-friendly cafés, stores, and establishments will be invited to attend educational workshops at HyCan, where they will receive training on dog behaviour and safety, earn a GHMC-endorsed certificate, and display a “Safe With Dogs” sticker as a symbol of their commitment.

Workshops will run four times a day throughout the event and will be inaugurated by the Collector of Hyderabad, showcasing a powerful example of civic collaboration for animal welfare and public safety.

National Canine Bravery Awards — Honouring India’s K9 Heroes

For the first time, HyCan 2025 will host the National Canine Bravery Awards, jointly organised by the RRU Commando K9 Academy and the Hyderabad Canine Club.

This symbolic collaboration between Rashtra Raksha University (RRU) and the Kennel Club of India (KCI) honours the courage and dedication of India’s police and defence K9 units. Entries from Central and State Police K9 teams are currently being reviewed, with selected stories to be featured in HyMag, HyCan’s official publication.

During the event, 2–3 exceptional K9s will be honoured with the National Canine Bravery Award in the presence of senior police and Central Police Organisation dignitaries, celebrating the nation’s real-life four-legged heroes.
