Dr. Namrata Singal Sawant: Pioneering Women’s Imaging and Early Breast Cancer Detection in India

Dr. Namrata Singal Sawant, MBBS, MD (Radiodiagnosis), and Fellowship-trained in Breast Imaging (US), is redefining standards in women’s imaging through her work as Director and Senior Breast & Women’s Imaging Consultant Radiologist at Vcare Imaging Diagnostic Center, Mumbai. With over 17 years of clinical experience, Dr. Sawant has become a respected authority in the field of breast imaging and women’s health diagnostics.

Specializing in MRI, Mammography, High-Resolution Sonography, Sonography-guided Needle Core Biopsies, and Wire Localization, Dr. Sawant combines advanced medical expertise with a patient-centric approach. Her clinical acumen has contributed significantly to enhancing the accuracy of breast cancer detection and diagnosis in India.

An active member of the Breast Imaging Society of India (BISI) and the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA), Dr. Sawant has played a pivotal role in advancing awareness and training within the medical fraternity. Her contributions extend to gynecological imaging and antenatal sonographies, with a particular focus on early anomaly detection in prenatal care.

Beyond her clinical excellence, Dr. Sawant is a passionate educator and advocate. She has conducted numerous lectures, workshops, and national-level training sessions for doctors, DNB students, and breast fellows. Her educational initiatives also reach the general public, as she regularly organizes awareness sessions for societies and underprivileged communities.

A strong proponent of early breast cancer detection, Dr. Sawant partnered with Fujifilm India to organize free diagnostic camps for women from underprivileged backgrounds. Her academic contributions include authoring a chapter in a book on Breast Cancer Imaging, which was launched by Sonali Bendre, breast cancer survivor and ambassador of Fujifilm’s campaign “Find it Early, Fight it Early.”
