  • Dr Pratik Mungekar on "Education Beyond the syllabus"

On the occasion of blissful Vasant Panchami, 5 February 2022, 20 Speakers across India joined Eduthon with a motto of Education Beyond Syllabus. The event was organized by: Win Connects Intellectual Network TM Sponsored by: ScholarsTree Educare Private Limited Media partner: Stay featured Creative Partner: Arena Animation Tilak Road Education Partner: Yoga at Chiranjiv Foundation, Palingo Let's read the thoughts of Dr Pratik Mungekar , during Eduthon A conference is not just an avenue for a scientist, Educator, Teacher to present their research to the wider community, but it can be an important venue for brainstorming, networking and making vital connections that can lead to new initiatives, papers and funding. A major activity in the life of an academic is the professional conference. It is common knowledge that this is a place to present your research, but what about other benefits of attending a conference? It is commonly accepted that attending a conference is a great way to be exposed to the latest studies and ideas from your field. Conferences are also a way of getting face-to-face interactions with leaders in your field, and for those just starting in academia, they are a way to gain valuable advice and mentoring. Additionally, they are a way to start collaborations on papers or projects, and to more directly advance your career by finding new positions or to build your program by using these meetings to recruit faculty, students, or interns or to even to make money, by selling your new technology or software to practitioners. Conferences are an invaluable resource to academics beyond just the conference presentations themselves. Eduthon: Education Beyond Syllabus what a concept!! I cannot help myself expressing immense pleasure to be a part of a keynote Speaker in the mega event. All the sessions I attended were interesting and insightful. I have delivered my talk on Education Beyond the syllabus. It was an amazing experience kudos to Eduthon team for organising such a beautiful yet professional conference. Here I am attaching my Talk Transcript for our readers. To create learning environments that are inclusive, diverse and engage all types of learners, we need to provide students with learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. This is key to supporting and enhancing the learner experience and achieving positive educational outcomes for students. By extending learning beyond the classroom, you open the door to many more learning opportunities for your students: * Provide more engaging and relevant learning. * Increase opportunities for students to access and interact with learning materials online. * Further develop a student’s digital, collaborative and independent learning. * Provide greater opportunities for revision, feedback and informal learning. * Enhance capacity for inclusive and individualised learning. How do you Extend Learning Beyond the Classroom? An important aspect of extending learning beyond the classroom is to use and present a range of learning materials in new and engaging ways and to structure class and homework time with more flexibility and collaboration in mind. Enable communication anywhere and at anytime Students often find it challenging to progress their group work outside the classroom. Using online tools can assist to keep the momentum going with group projects after students leave the classroom. Some examples of these tools include: * Social streams. * Wikis. * Blogs. * Forums. These online tools are available via a Learning Management System and enable students to create conversations and work collaboratively in a virtual classroom. An added advantage of accessing these tools via a Learning Management System is that students are able to participate in a monitored, safe online environment. All of the contributions are identifiable and explicitly connected to an individual student. This not only enables the teacher to correctly attribute contributions but also ensures appropriate use of a system that can be easily monitored. Utilise a flipped classroom. Instead of the teacher providing direct instruction in class and then setting homework, an educator could ask students to access online content at home and then have them complete the task in class—known as the ‘flipped classroom’. This approach means students use the lesson to: 1. Apply new knowledge. 2. Ask questions. 3. Receive immediate feedback. By delivering content online with the use of educational technology, a student is able to work and progress their learning at a pace that suits their needs. Students who have missed lessons due to illness or would like to review content again can also easily access materials at home. Create an inclusive learning environment A truly effective learning environment supports and meets the needs of all kinds of learners. This creates equitable access to learning opportunities and improves a student’s chance of success. This approach of inclusive education is best seen where learning activities are customised so that they challenge more able students and also, support those who need extra guidance. This support and inclusion also applies to those who have missed class time. In these instances, teachers should still be communicating the curriculum to them and continuing to support their learning. Having an LMS and a communication portal is invaluable to meet this requirement. Parents are also connected to the LMS and School Portal ecosystem, which further helps to facilitate support and communication when the student is unable to attend school. The Modern Landscape As technology has evolved, the virtual classroom has taken its place, next to the physical, as an important avenue to deliver and interact with learning materials. Through the use of online learning environments and learning management systems, teachers can now design virtual spaces to support and extend a student’s learning environment. This means with the right technology, learning can occur anywhere, anytime, to suit the learner. if you want to watch and cherish the memories of eduthon, click on this link https://fb.watch/b3eCh74uZ7/

Prof.Dr.Queen Eden Soriano Trinidad Ph.D Prime Minister of State of Birland, Philippines was the Chief guest and Guest of Honour of this conference. Dr.Pratik & Dr Uche has done the Moderation of this conference so gracefully. It was a grand Successful SDG Summit/Conference. Overall, the SDG Summit demonstrated the continuing strong commitment of the international community to the 2030 Agenda and to multilateral collaboration for achieving the SDGs by 2030 Key Messages from this International conference/SDG Summit: The commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development remains steadfast at the highest level of government and among stakeholders. Yet it is clear that the world is not on track to meet the SDGs by 2030. The future is now, and the Earth's systems are changing quickly. The SDGs can still be achieved if the international community steps up the speed and ambition of its actions. Many countries have been proactively implementing the SDGs, incorporating them in policies and strategies, and outlining their long-term vision for transformation to more sustainable and just economies and societies. However, the shared view is that the global response is not yet sufficiently transformative. Most of the 21 targets designated for achievement by 2020 will likely not be met and we are not on track for achieving many other targets by 2030. Governments cannot do it alone; they are reaching out to forge new partnerships with civil society, businesses, and the scientific and technological community. National plans must reflect a singly interconnected world, and address complex flows of goods, capital, information and people. For such efforts to be effective, it is imperative that all countries pursue the SDGs as systems, fully recognizing the interconnections across sectors, countries and levels, from global to local. Positive synergies need to be harnessed and difficult trade-offs need to be addressed more quickly and effectively, Interventions can have multiple impacts across the SDGs: human well-being and capabilities; sustainable and just economics; food systems and nutrition patterns; energy decarbonization with universal access; urban and peri-urban development; and global environmental commons. Across those areas, governance, economy and finance, individual and collective action, and science and technology are important levers that can help countries to achieve positive synergistic impacts across the SDGs. While there is sufficient knowledge to act now, it is key to ensure that knowledge is available to those who need it. This requires strengthening the science-policy interface and creating knowledge platforms in every country. Unequal access to scientific data and knowledge systems is a major obstacle to the universal implementation of the 2030 Agenda, particularly for the Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States. Urgent action must be taken by development partners to overcome this deficit. Weaknesses in governance, corruption and declining civic space are major obstacles to the SDGs and promoting human rights and supporting actions to foster peace and justice are essential for progress. The world is entering a decade that will be decisive for current and future generations, and for all life on the planet. Through the SDG Summit Political Declaration, Heads of State and Government pledged to make the coming decade one of action and delivery. Team Stay featured is always thankful to the organizers of this summit 1) Dr.Parteek Singla 2) Dr. Uche Linda Okpala 3)Prof.Dr.Pratik Rajan Mungekar Article by: Prof.Dr.Pratik Rajan Mungekar

  • Lata Mangeshkar and her connection with Indian cricket

6th February 2022 was a sad day for Indians, as well as the music world, as "Gaankokila" Honorable Lata Mangeshkar passed away. The sudden demise of "Nightingale of India" left an unfulfilled void in the minds of Indians. From Bollywood to politicians, everyone mourned the death of their beloved singer. Cricketers across the globe shed tears in remembrance of the soulful queen. When one will think of music, the first name coming to everyone's mind will be Lata Mangeshkar. The greatest in the music industry fundraising so shared a special connection with Indian cricket. Right since her younger days, she showed her love for the sport. One could see her smiling in the stands after Salim Durrani hit the six in the stands off Derek Underwood against England in 1973 when the spectators had demanded him to do so by saying "we want sixer". Often one could see Lata Mangeshkar in the stands cheering for India. Her love for the game was such, that when she decided to own a house in London, she did own one right in front of The Mecca of Cricket, Lord's. Her contribution to the sport is beyond just a spectator. Back then, when the BCCI was not a money-making rich board, India under Kapil Dev ended the West Indian domination to win their first World cup in 1983. Players were getting applause from all over the world, but the board had no money to felicitate the players who brought them glory. It was at this point fundraising when BCCI requested the legendary singer to help them with a fund raising event, which Lataji gladly accepted. Her magical voice helped the board earn a whopping 20 lakh rupees 4 decades earlier than today. The world cup winning players were awarded this money. The selflessness of Lata Ji was seen by everyone when she denied any fees for this noble event. In her honour, the BCCI always kept 2 seats reserved for Lata Ji for every match India played thereafter. Every player was fond of her magical voice. She had immense respect for every single player who played for India. But she shared a very special bond with the two Indian greats, Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar. Recalling an incident, Sunil Gavaskar had said," When I was in Lahore, I attended an event of Pakistan film industry and met a famous singer Noor Jahan, who denied identifying me saying she only knows Imran Khan. When asked if I knew Noorjahan, I replied, I know only the greatest Lata Mangeshkar Ji ". This showed the immense respect Gavaskar had for the legend of music. One could also see Lata Ji shedding tears as Gavaskar recalled this incident on stage. Along with Little Master, the God of cricket also shared a very special connection with Lata Ji. Sachin would always call her "my mother", and Lata Ji proudly said, " Sachin is like my son, a son who made his entire country proud". Sachin fondly said that the medium of music changed over the years, from pull tapes to tape recorders, to two-in-one to i-pods. But amidst all this, only one thing which remained constant was the melodies voice of Lata Ji which he listened to. Coincidentally, when Sachin reached his 35th century, breaking the record of Gavaskar who had 34 centuries, he was felicitated by the person he admired the most. On the occasion, Lata Ji said " Since he is like my son, I'm here to bless him, and I request everyone to support him, and not criticize him for petty reasons". For a world-class player who was dealing with a slump of form, these words mattered a lot. Lata Ji was one of the very few people who stood with Sachin through his thick and thin. The bond between the two Bharat Ratna award recipientsJi was so pure, that Sachin was the first person to reach Lata Ji's house after knowing about her demise. Lata Ji might not be present physically in this world, but through her melodies and masterpieces, she will live forever in the hearts of people. The legacy she left behind is huge. She is a legend of music, yet her fondness and love for gentlemen's games are unmatchable. Her selfless act for Indian cricket in 1983 is something that India will never forget. If one has to speak about very few people to have played a part in Indian cricket, despite being not related to it, Lata Ji's name would be on the top of that list. Her demise has left a void in our hearts, but legends like these never die, they live forever till there is the sun.

With this victory, India reached the finals for the 4 consecutive world cups and have done it for the 8th time in the history of the U-19 World Cup. They did it by winning the semi-final comfortably by 96 runs, which everyone thought would be a thrilling encounter. Winning the toss, Yash Dhull chose to bat, a decision which was a little surprising looking at the pitch and the previous clash. And Aussie bowlers bowled with great discipline bowling tight lines to ensure the scorecard is not moving much. Both the openers, Raghuwanshi and Harnoor Singh played the new ball cautiously. Their scorecard may say something else, but their patience was the key to facing the great swing from Aussie bowlers successfully. After playing for some time, Salzmann delivered an unplayable delivery dismissing the inform Raghuwanshi. Rasheed along with Harnoor continued to bat well when the latter fell to a short ball and was caught behind. With 36/2 in around 12+ overs, it looked difficult for India. Looking at what happened in the last match, it seemed like India might just cross over 200+, which might as well be a good score. But captain Yash Dhull and vice-captain Shaik Rasheed had different plans. They hung in there for some time, took their time to settle, and then took quick singles to rotate the strike and keep the scoreboard moving. Any loose ball coming their way was punished by both of them. After a few overs, they started playing their natural game. The amazing late-cuts by Yash Dhull ensured the Aussie spinners never got in their groove. With only 93/2 in the first 27 overs, both set batters took on the Aussie bowlers. Both of them notched to their fifties in style and then continued the onslaught on Kangaroos. Yash Dhull received thunderous applause after reaching his well deserved hundred, which he missed in the first match. From 93 in 27 overs, they took the team to 241/2 in 44 overs, after which Dhull was dismissed in an unlucky way by the ball hitting nonstrikers stumps touching the bowler's hands. Rasheed too was dismissed on 94, but both had done their job. Some late fireworks by Nishant Sandhu and wicketkeeper Dinesh Bana took India to a mammoth 290. The latter scored 20 off 4 balls. Australian bowling looked fabulous in the first 15 overs. Also, their fielders did a great job. all the throws by their fielders did hit the stumps. But amidst all the pressure, eventually, it was the Indian duo of Rasheed and Dhull who stitched a mammoth 205 run partnership breaking the Aussie morale. Conwally did use the bowlers well, but the most surprising thing was Nivethan Radhakrishnan was given only 2 overs. If he has been given a chance to bowl more, his ambidextrous bowling might have helped the Aussies. Aussie batting didn't start well either. In form, Wylie was dismissed by an inswinger bowled by Ravi Kumar. Post that however the duo of Kellaway and Miller did their best to hold on to the crease before both of them were dismissed in consecutive overs. Post that, barring Shaw who scored a half-century, none of the Aussie batters resisted the Indian bowlers. Eventually, Aussie resistance ended at 194. Ostwal scalped 3, Sandhu and Ravi Kumar scalped 2 each, and Raghuwanshi and Tambe took 1 wicket each. All the other bowlers did well to restrict the run rate. Eventually, the combined efforts of team India led them to a huge victory by 96 runs. Australia did well to reach the semis, but couldn't capitalise yesterday. They are a really good side but have never managed to win a match against India from 1998 in U-19s. Meanwhile, India, continuing their winning streak in the world cup, have notched their 4th consecutive entry into the world cup final. They will be clashing against the English team for the title, who are eager to win their first title after their 1998 world cup victory. With their previous matches at the same venue as the final, English team would have an acclimatisation advantage, but the spirits of Indian boys are higher too. It would be interesting to see the final on 5th February. Let's see if the gets its 5th title, or England gets their 2nd. • Difference between current U-19 and senior Indian team

This year didn't start well for the Indian cricket team. The firm favourites in the series against South Africa, India didn't live up to the expectations of the same one bit. Before this series, the same happened in the 2021 T20 world cup, when they were knocked out in the Super 12. When on one hand the senior team is not living up to the expectations, the juniors are creating new records. The U-19 team of India is on a roll since the Asia Cup victory and has won all the matches in the world cup till now qualifying themselves to the semi-finals. The major difference in the performance of the senior and the junior team is the intent with which they are playing. The U-19 team are playing to win matches. Their body language, their efforts in the field suggest the same. This is why, despite 6 members of the junior team including the skipper Yash Dhull being tested positive, the team's performance hasn't gone down. The victory over Ireland and Uganda may not be so important for everyone, considering the other teams have less experienced, but the margin of victory of 174 and 326 runs show the sheer domination despite juniors. On the other hand, the senior team looks like a bunch of guys who are bored by the regular office work they have to do. Barring the likes of Kohli, Thakur, Chahar, Dhawan, no one seems to play for victory. The extremely casual approach of the senior team has done them enough harm. The lethargic approach can be seen when one drops sitters often. With the way they performed, they never deserved to win. Another major difference between the two teams in the squad balance. The U-19 team have a lot of players who are excellent all-rounders. They contribute to the team in every possible way. The stand-in skipper Nishant Sandhu, Raj Bawa, Tambe have contributed by both, their bat as well as the ball. The star all-rounder Rajvardhan Hangargekar has excellent six-hitting ability, which is a bonus for the team, plus he breathes fire when he bowls with consistent speeds of over 145+ mph. These players look like a perfect combination of specialist bowler and specialist batter in one player. Whereas, the senior team does have at the max one contributors like any of these. And the last, but the most important difference is the contribution of the middle order. Losing 3 quick wickets didn't affect the scorecard much against the middle-orderU19 team's encounter against South Africa. The middle-order also did contribute greatly to the Asia Cup, helping the team reach a defendable total. Knowing the responsibility, they batted sensibly, something which was missing in the senior team. The juniors rotated strike when required, instead of going for a rash looking shot putting the team in trouble. The sensible approach, which is the usual difference between the senior and junior teams, was exactly the opposite when it came to the Indian team. While the juniors play with extreme maturity, the seniors lack a sensible approach. The dedication of juniors was visible in the quarter-final clash against Bangladesh, where they outplayed the Bangla team in all three departments. Aggression on the other was good by the junior team. They played their heart on the sleeve to save every single run they could, by diving to every opportunity. Today against the Kangaroos, their aggression could yield them the result they want. Undoubtedly, it is too early to compare, but the above mentioned has been the case with the teams for some time. It is unfair to compare both the teams because of the level at which they play, but whichever level it is, is the highest for the game they play. Currently, the Senior Men in Blue are not going through a good phase and would want to roar back with the coming West Indies series. While doing so they would want to learn from the approach of juniors, who are on the hunt to win the world cup title for 5th time. You don't lose anything by learning good things from your juniors. Having said that, it's also worth the mention that India senior team is still one of the finest teams in the world at the moment. They just need to get in the groove to get back to their winning habit. In the days to follow, we wish to see juniors life the title, and seniors bounce back again. Let's hope it happens Authored By:- Ashwin Jangam ( Cricket Analyst, Host and Entertainer) Instagram ID: https://www.instagram.com/cricket_creativity/
