Empowering the Future: Nirbhay Kanya Abhiyan Leaves a Lasting Impact at Poona College

In a significant stride towards women's empowerment, Poona College hosted the Nirbhay Kanya Abhiyan program, a collaborative initiative with the Savitribai Phule Pune University Student Development Board, Poona College Student Development Board, and IQAC. The program witnessed active participation from 105 female students who engaged in comprehensive self-defence training.

Under the esteemed guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Aftab Anwar Sheikh, Vice Principals Prof. Moinuddin Khan and Dr. Iqbal Sheikh, the program aimed to instil a sense of confidence and security among female students. Student Development Officer Dr Baba Sheikh played a pivotal role in organizing the event.

Renowned Karate master trainer Jitendra Yadav took charge, imparting invaluable lessons on physical health and self-defence. Emphasizing the importance of equipping every girl with the skills to face any situation, he advocated for the training of karate techniques. Additionally, Saishrita Panganti, Ananya Pandey, and Pooja played crucial roles in delivering self-defence training sessions.

The program also featured informative sessions led by Mrs Surabhi Aplesh on women's health and personality development, focusing on women's self-defence. R. Mrs Bhagyashree Salunke, secretary of the multi-purpose institute, shared insights on personality development and women empowerment.

The event was inaugurated by Sub-Lieutenant Dr. Shakir Sheikh, with moderation provided by Dr. Shireen Sheikh. The success of the program was made possible through the dedication of individuals such as Afrin Ahmed, Dr Shabana Sheikh, Dr Gulab Pathan, Dr. Iram Khan, Prof. Shahida Ansari, Prof. Shabina Khan, Prof. Reshma Patil, Pvt. Asad Shaikh, Prof. Imran Pathan, and others worked tirelessly to ensure its success.

The Nirbhay Kanya Abhiyan at Poona College stands as a testament to the institution's commitment to fostering the holistic development and empowerment of its female students. With self-defence skills and a renewed sense of confidence, these young women are poised to face the future fearlessly.
