Beyond the Award: A Moment That Will Stay With Me Forever: Dr Pratik Mungekar

Certain moments in life cannot be measured by certificates, trophies, or applause. They become memories etched into the heart — reminders of why we began our journey in the first place.

Receiving the Vocational Excellence Award 2026 from the Rotary Club of Dombivli was one such unforgettable experience.

Standing on that stage, surrounded by respected dignitaries, educators, social contributors, and inspiring personalities from different fields, I felt an overwhelming mix of gratitude, humility, and emotion. The award was presented to me by the esteemed Avinash Narkar, in the gracious presence of Aishwarya Narkar and

President Snehal Shinde Ma’am, making the occasion even more special and memorable.

But the true highlight of the evening was not the award itself.

It was the emotional connection shared in that hall.

As my work in research and education was acknowledged, the audience rose for a standing ovation. For a few seconds, time almost stood still. Looking at people clapping with genuine affection, offering blessings, smiling through tears, and expressing heartfelt appreciation was an experience I will cherish forever.

In today’s world, where success is often reduced to numbers, titles, and visibility, moments like these remind us what truly matters — human impact.

Education is not merely about teaching lessons from books. Research is not simply about publishing papers or earning recognition. The real purpose of both lies in touching lives, shaping futures, and creating meaningful change in society.

That standing ovation was not for one speech, one achievement, or one milestone.

It was a reflection of years of dedication, persistence, struggle, learning, and unwavering belief in the power of knowledge and humanity.

Every journey has its silent chapters.

There were days filled with uncertainty. There were moments of exhaustion. Some obstacles tested patience and resilience. Some sacrifices often went unnoticed.

Yet every challenge became meaningful in that single emotional moment.

What made the evening even more heartwarming was the response to my speech, which many lovingly called a “super-duper hit.” While the appreciation was deeply encouraging, I genuinely believe the applause belonged to everyone who has been part of my journey.

To every student who trusted my guidance.To every mentor who shaped my thinking. To every colleague, friend, family member, and well-wisher who believed in me during difficult times — this honour belongs to all of you.

No success story is ever written alone.

As I accepted this award, I also felt the weight of a greater responsibility. Recognition should never make us comfortable; it should inspire us to work even harder. It should remind us that there are still countless lives to impact, countless ideas to explore, and countless dreams waiting to be nurtured through education and innovation.

This recognition has renewed my commitment to continue working with sincerity toward research, education, social contribution, and humanity.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club of Dombivli for this incredible honour and for creating such a beautiful and emotional celebration. My sincere thanks to every person present there whose blessings and encouragement made the evening truly unforgettable.

Some achievements make us proud.

But some moments make us emotional enough to pause, reflect, and simply say:

“This is why the journey was worth it.”

And this was undoubtedly one of those moments.
