The three-day Global South Conference on Infection Prevention, Control, and Antimicrobial Stewardship (G-SPARC) 2024, held in Hyderabad, successfully concluded on Saturday evening, drawing over 2,000 delegates from across the globe. The event, led by key figures including Prof. GVS Murthy, President of PRASHO, and R Govind Hari, Chairman of PRASHO, addressed critical global health challenges related to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). The highlight of the conference was the unveiling of the Hyderabad Declaration, which outlined 21 recommendations for combating AMR. These include instituting robust surveillance systems, fostering strong collaborations between Global South countries, and ensuring that by 2030, at least 60% of nations have funded national action plans for AMR. The declaration emphasized that AMR is a manmade disaster requiring concerted global action, with high-income countries urged to allocate a significant proportion of their GDP to aid the Global South. In addition to the declaration, two white papers were presented—focusing on AMR containment and Oral Health. The event also saw the signing of three critical Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), including collaborations between PRASHO and Oxford Brookes University, and between SCIINV (India) and Microbira (UK), aiming to enhance AMR diagnostic tools and public health capacity. हा सिनेमा करण्यामागचं पहिलं प्रमुख कारण म्हणजे, छत्रपाल निनावे. आमच्या फिल्मचा लेखक, दिग्दर्शक. हा चित्रपट करण्यामागचा छत्रपालचा हेतू त्याने केलेली मांडणी, त्याची पद्धत हे सगळं ऐकून वाटलं,मला हा सिनेमा करायचाच आहे.  प्रश्न : घात सुव्यवस्थेचा.... घात कायद्याचा... घात माणुसकीचा... आजचं हे चित्र आपल्या देशात - राज्यात दिसून येत आहे... एक संवेदनशील कवीमनाच्या कलावंत म्हणून काय सांगाल ?‘ घात’ हा शब्द बरं का फार अनोळखी नाहीये. म्हणजे आपणच आपला घात करत असतो अनेकदा. आयुष्याचं एक स्वप्नील चित्र असतं लहानपणी मोठं होताना कळतं मोठा घात झालाय आपला. आपण जशी कल्पना केली तसं आयुष्य नाहीच. पण तरी आपण त्यावर मात करत पुढे जातो. तर घात सिनेमातही असंच काय काय होत जातं, यातल्या पात्रांच्या बाबतीत. मधुर राय म्हणतात, "आदमी जितना ज्यादा जानता है, उतना अपना व्याप बढाता है". जितके अधिक संवेदनशील व्हाल तितकं तुम्ही अधिक जाणून घेता. समाजातली विषमता दिसायला लागते. अर्थात काही चांगली माणसंसुद्धा आहेत. अशा चांगल्या लोकांच्या मागे उभं राहायला हवं. छत्रपालही तसाच एक काहीतरी करू पाहणारा माणूस आहे. म्हणून त्याचा विषय ऐकायला हवा. ती फिल्म करायला हवी.  प्रश्न : एसीपी नागपुरे पात्र कसं साकारलं ? एसीपीची बदली झालीय आणि तो त्या नव्या पोस्टिंगला वैतागलाय. त्याला इथून लवकरात लवकर निघायचंय. या अत्यंत भ्रष्ट माणसालाही जेरीस आणणारं हे पोस्टिंग आहे. याची एक बॅकस्टोरीपण आहेच. तो अतिशय व्यथित आहे, त्याच्या बायकोशी त्याचं पटत नाही, पण मुलीवर प्रेम आहे. हे सगळं छत्रपालशी चर्चा करून मी जाणून घेतलं. त्यातून मला ते पात्र सापडत गेलं. त्याच्या अॅक्शन-रिअॅक्शन सापडल्या. गवसला मला तो.  प्रश्न : दिग्दर्शक छत्रपालबद्दल काय सांगाल ? अरे धमाल होता. येडा आहे हा माणूस. याचा पहिला सिनेमा असं मला वाटलंच नाही. कारण प्रत्यक्षात उतरायच्या बराच आधी त्याने सिनेमा मनातल्या मनात इतक्यांदा करून झालाय की काय सांगू. महत्त्वाचं म्हणजे त्याला घाई नाही कसलीच. त्याच्याकडे एक ठेहराव आहे. त्याला या माध्यमाविषयी, त्या गोष्टीविषयी, सिनेमाविषयी त्याला प्रेम आहे.  प्रश्न : 'घात'च्या चित्रीकरणाचा अनुभव कसा होता? खतरनाक... मला अनेकदा वाटलेलं आहे, छत्रपालला हो म्हणून मी माझाच 'घात' केलाय...हाहाहा. गंमत सोडा पण चित्रीकरणाचा अनुभव खरंच वेगळा होता. आम्ही एका टापूवर चित्रीकरण करत होतो. काही सीन तर थेट जंगलात बिंगलात जाऊन घेतलेत. मी तर होडीपण वल्हवलीय. सगळी टीम किनाऱ्यावर मी एकटाच बोटीत. वल्हवतोय नुसता. कितीपण वल्हवा ती पुढे जाईचना, गोल गोल फिरे. तिकडे किनाऱ्यावर हा भाई ओरडतोय, सर बोट पुढे जायला पाहिजे...... मी म्हटलं, अरे मी काय नावाडी आहे का? शेवटी कॅमेरामनला माझी दया आली...आम्ही काय काय उद्योग केले आणि तो सीन शूट केला. प्रश्न : प्रत्यक्ष लोकेशनवर शूट करण्याचा अनुभव कसा होता? खडतर. कारण जंगल होतं. वन्यप्राणी म्हणजे नॉर्मल ये जा करायचे. व्हॅनिटी वगैरे लाड नाहीत. काही ठिकाणी तर गाड्या पण जात नव्हत्या. जेमतेम आडोसा करून बसायचं. दणकून डास चावायचे. किडे तोंडावर यायचे. पाली तर एवढ्या डेंजर. आम्ही गमतीने म्हणायचो, या पाली जरा जाड्या असत्या तर मगरीच झाल्या असत्या.  प्रश्न : या दरम्यानचा एखादा लक्षात राहिलेला किस्सा सांगा... आमच्या शूटिंगच्या परिसरात एकदा अर्ध खाल्लेलं हरीण दिसलं. सगळ्यांची पाचावर धारण. मीपण त्यात. तरीपण चक्कर मारायला बाहेर पडलो. तर एक मच्छीमार भेटला. आमच्या शूटिंगच्या आसपासच तो झोपडी करून राहतो होता. हा साहेब कलकत्त्याहून इथे कामाच्या शोधात आलेला. मी विचारलं, ते वाघाचं कळलं का, इथे असतो म्हणे.. तो म्हणाला, हो माहितीय की मला. ओळखीचा झालाय आता. काही करत नाही हो तो. तो त्याच्या कामात आपण आपल्या. मला नाही भीती वाटत. मी इतका अवाक झालो आणि एका अर्थी डोळेही उघडले माझे. आयुष्य किती वेगवेगळ्या पद्धतीने शिकवत असतं. आपण जी शांतता शोधत रानोमाळ भटकतो ती या मच्छीमाराच्या झोपडीत सहज होती. निसर्ग आणि त्याचं सान्निध्य किती महत्त्वाचं असतं, त्याचा पुन्हा प्रत्यय आला.  प्रश्न :बर्लिन मधील तुमचा अनुभव कसा होता ? खूप भारी होता. लोकांचा प्रतिसाद जबरदस्त होता. संपूर्ण अनोळखी देशातल्या, भाषेतल्या प्रेक्षकांनी सिनेमा समजून त्यावर टाळ्यांचा गजर करणं बेफाट असतं. त्याची झिंग वेगळीच. चित्रीकरणातल्या सगळ्या पाली, किडे, होडी सगळ्याची आठवण आली आणि ते केल्याचं चीज झाल्याचं समाधान मिळालं. बर्लिनमध्ये आयुष्यात कोणीतरी सही घेतला पहिल्यांदा, लई मजा होती.  प्रश्न :ओटीटीच्या युगात 'घात' चित्रपटगृहात जाऊन का पहावा ? याची भव्यता अनुभवण्यासाठी! अनवट पार्श्वसंगीत आणि आम्हा सर्वांचा अभिनय, त्यासाठी सर्वांनी अफाट घेतलेली मेहनत, अंगावर शहारे आणणारे वास्तव, खोल जंगल, वास्तवाशी मिळतंजुळतं वातावरण हे सारं थिएटरला जाऊन मुद्दाम बघा. एक निराळं वास्तव तुमच्यासमोर येईल. हे एक वेगळं जग आहे. ते समजून घ्यायला हवं. आज जगभरातील महोत्सवांमध्ये या सिनेमाला प्रतिसाद मिळाला, प्रेक्षकप्रेम मिळालं तर फक्त छत्रपाल, आम्ही नव्हे तर त्याच्यासारख्या अनेक हौशी, धडपड्या दिग्दर्शकांसाठी ती एक चांगली सुरुवात असेल. त्यामुळे २७ तारखेपासून थिएटरला जाऊन सिनेमा बघाच.  प्रश्न : आपण हा चित्रपट पुन्हा सुरु केला असं ऐकण्यात आलं आहे... आपण नसू पण सिनेमा असेल.. मी म्हणजे सिनेमा बंद पाडणारा नट म्हणून प्रसिद्ध होतो. आतापर्यंत म्हणजे नेहमीच नाही. काहीवेळा मला जर का सेटवर व्यवस्थित चाललेलं दिसलं नाही, तर मी सरळ सांगतो. हा टाइमपास असेल तर करू नका सिनेमा.. निर्मात्याचे पैसे फुकट घालवू नका. पण या सिनेमात मात्र मी पिक्चर बंद पडू नये, यासाठी प्रयत्न केले. आम्ही दाट जंगलात शूट करत होतो. कुठल्याही सुविधा नव्हत्या. फक्त डेडीकेशन, विषयाचं महत्त्व म्हणून सगळे जी जान लगाकर काम करत होते. त्यात एक दिवस एकदम राडाच झाला. शिफ्टचा काहीतरी प्रॉब्लेम म्हणून छत्रपाल आणि कॅमेरामन वगैरे यांच्यात वादावादी झाली. सगळे गप्प. निर्मात्याला फोन गेला. करायचा नाहीय हा सिनेमा. मला वाटलं, आता काहीतरी करायला पाहिजे. कारण विषय महत्त्वाचा आहे. सिनेमा व्हायला हवा. शेवटी दिग्दर्शक, कलाकार जातात पण सिनेमा म्हणजे कलाकृती राहते. मी माझ्या परीने सगळ्यांना समजावले. सगळ्यांना ऐकलं माझं. आणि सिनेमा डब्यात जाता जाता थिएटरमध्ये गेला.

Competing against elite teams from countries like Portugal, Romania, and Serbia, the four-member squad emerged victorious, earning the coveted titles of "World Champions" and "Best Communication." The team, comprising G. Maniram (CSE, 3rd year), Y. Bala Praneeth Sagar (ECE, 3rd year), T.R. Divyakanth (ECE, 3rd year), and Rujul Rumale (ECE, 2nd year), was lauded for their innovative CanSat design and their ability to outperform competitors during both mission phases. Their success was met with widespread celebration, and they were welcomed home with a grand procession at their university, attended by over 400 students. Victory and Recognition The WCRC is one of the most prestigious competitions in the field of satellite technology and rocketry. Winning this global contest is considered a monumental achievement, as teams from across the world showcase their technical prowess by developing miniaturized satellites, or CanSats. Despite facing fierce competition, Jigyasa distinguished itself by excelling in both primary and secondary mission objectives, securing two prestigious awards. “We are thrilled to announce that we have been named World Champions and received the award for Best Communication,” the students shared after their victorious return. The team's CanSat was praised for its advanced structural design, robust communication systems, efficient battery management, and comprehensive data collection. It also successfully completed survival and recovery tasks, crucial components in the competition's criteria. In addition to their technical feats, the Jigyasa team garnered significant attention on social media, achieving the highest engagement and viewership among participants on Instagram. The CanSat and Its Mission A CanSat is a scaled-down satellite, designed to resemble the size and shape of a soft drink can, yet equipped with all the critical components of a real satellite. Jigyasa’s CanSat featured an onboard computer, power supply, sensors, and a communication protocol, all integrated into a compact and efficient design. The team’s mission had two key objectives: - Primary Mission: Transmit telemetry data to a ground station every second, while ensuring the CanSat survived either floating on water or underwater. - Secondary Mission: Measure water quality parameters, maintain communication with the ground station post-landing, and ensure safe recovery. The team’s CanSat not only completed these tasks but also impressed the jury with its unique flap-like design, which aided in weight distribution and buoyancy. Unlike other teams, many of whom faced challenges during the secondary mission, Jigyasa successfully conducted water testing, solidifying their top position. Behind the Scenes: Challenges and Triumphs The road to victory was not without obstacles. Ten international teams were selected for the finals, but only six could participate due to visa complications. The Jigyasa team itself received their visas just three days before the competition. Despite these hurdles, the team remained determined, arriving at the venue two days before the event and working tirelessly to test and refine their satellite. “We were first-time fliers, and we spent two sleepless nights perfecting our CanSat before the competition,” the team shared during their felicitation ceremony at Anurag University. Their dedication paid off, as their handmade CanSat, which included custom-built circuits, antennas, and even a parachute, performed flawlessly. The students also expressed gratitude to their mentors, Prof. M. Narayana (ECE) and Dr. P. Vishwanath (MECH), for their guidance, and to fellow student Rakshit Raj (MECH, 3rd year) for his support in the structural design and descent mechanism. A Global Stage for Innovation The World CanSat and Rocketry Championship, organized by the WCRC Consortium in collaboration with the Universidade de Aveiro and Instituto de Telecomunicações, is an international platform for the brightest minds in satellite technology. Jigyasa’s victory not only highlights the talent of the team but also underscores Anurag University’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence. As the world champions returned to Hyderabad, they were greeted with a hero’s welcome at the university, celebrated by their peers and faculty. The team's achievement is a testament to their hard work, ingenuity, and perseverance, placing them among the brightest talents in the field of aerospace technology.
