  • 2025 — Learning Spanish is the Future: Trends and Novelties- Bhawana Gupta

Introduction As we approach 2025, the world is becoming more interconnected, and language learning is adapting to meet the needs of a globalized society. Spanish, spoken by over 500 million people as a native language, continues to rise in prominence. It is not only the second most spoken language globally by native speakers but also a critical language in international business, culture, and travel (Instituto Cervantes, 2022). The importance of Spanish in North and South America, as well as Europe, makes it a valuable tool for communication across continents. Learning Spanish is no longer just a skill — it’s a gateway to new professional, social, and cultural opportunities. This essay explores the key trends and innovations revolutionizing how Spanish is learned and taught, setting the stage for a future where learning languages is not only more accessible but more personalized and engaging. The Recent Situation of Learning Spanish The options for learning Spanish today are vast. Traditional classroom instruction remains popular, but digital platforms like Duolingo, Babbel, and Rosetta Stone have revolutionized accessibility, making language learning available to anyone with an internet connection (Godwin-Jones, 2018). Language exchange programs, such as tandem learning, allow learners to practice with native speakers, while online video courses and apps focus on grammar and vocabulary development. However, challenges persist. Engagement is often an issue, as language learners can struggle to stay motivated without real-world interaction (Levy & Stockwell, 2020). Moreover, the disconnect between formal learning settings and real-life language use creates gaps in understanding cultural nuances. Many learners still face difficulty in finding immersive experiences that go beyond textbook learning, making it harder to grasp idiomatic expressions, local slang, and social customs. As we look to 2025, addressing these challenges with new technologies and approaches is crucial to creating a more immersive and effective learning environment. AI and Machine Learning in Language Learning The rise of AI and Machine Learning (ML) is revolutionizing language education by creating highly personalized learning experiences. AI-powered applications such as chatbots now offer conversation practice at any time of day, simulating real interactions with native speakers (Chaudhary, 2020). Platforms like Duolingo use ML to analyze learner performance and adjust the difficulty of lessons in real-time, offering personalized content that targets weak areas while reinforcing strengths (Loewen et al., 2019). Speech recognition technology powered by AI also enables real-time feedback on pronunciation, guiding learners to improve their speaking skills with greater precision. Beyond this, AI can predict common errors based on past learning behavior, offering tailored recommendations to accelerate learning (Chen et al., 2021). By 2025, we can expect even more advanced tools, such as AI-driven virtual tutors capable of holding complex conversations and providing personalized grammar explanations, making learning more intuitive, adaptive, and engaging. Virtual and Augmented Reality in Spanish Learning The advent of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) has opened up new avenues for immersive learning. With VR, learners can practice Spanish by placing themselves in simulated real-world scenarios. Imagine walking through a Spanish marketplace, negotiating prices with vendors, or navigating public transportation in Madrid — all within a virtual environment (Lin & Lan, 2015). This level of immersion forces learners to think quickly and make decisions in real-time, mirroring the challenges of real-life communication. AR, on the other hand, enhances the physical world by adding digital elements to everyday learning materials. AR-enabled textbooks, for example, could bring lessons to life by allowing students to interact with 3D representations of vocabulary words or cultural landmarks (Solak & Cakir, 2015). Similarly, AR apps could overlay translations or contextual information onto real-world objects, helping learners instantly connect Spanish vocabulary to their surroundings. As these technologies become more accessible, they will make language learning more engaging and experiential, allowing learners to apply their skills in practical, culturally rich contexts. Cultural Context in Language Learning Language is inseparable from culture. To truly master Spanish, learners must go beyond grammar and vocabulary and immerse themselves in the cultural elements that shape the language. Boström's work (2019) highlights the importance of understanding the cultural nuances embedded in language, emphasizing that fluency is not just about speaking correctly but about understanding the worldview that the language represents. For example, idiomatic expressions, humor, and local slang can vary greatly between countries that speak the same language. A phrase used in Mexico might not carry the same meaning in Spain or Argentina. Likewise, understanding the traditions, history, and social customs of Spanish-speaking countries enriches a learner’s ability to communicate effectively. By 2025, language learning will increasingly focus on cultural fluency, using multimedia resources like documentaries, films, and music to give learners a more holistic understanding of the language and its people (Kramsch, 1993). Conclusion Spanish learning is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by technological advances and a greater emphasis on cultural immersion. AI and ML are making language education more personalized and efficient, while VR and AR are providing new ways to experience the language in lifelike scenarios. Cultural context is being recognized as an essential component of fluency, ensuring that learners not only understand the language but also the cultural significance behind it. By 2025, the tools available for learning Spanish will be more diverse, interactive, and personalized than ever before, making the language accessible to a broader audience. As we look to the future, those who embrace these innovations will find that learning Spanish is not only a practical skill but also an enriching journey into the heart of global culture. • Global Tribune Sharod Shomman honors exceptional Durga Puja musical originals

Durga Puja, fondly known as "Sharod Utsav" among Bengalis, is an autumnal celebration that seamlessly intertwines culture with commerce. This grand festival not only inspires artistic expression but also sees brands releasing special jingles and commercials. The Global Tribune embraces this fusion of creativity, honoring musical talents through the "Sharod Shomman – Pujor Shera Gaan." With entries spanning from seasoned maestros to budding talents, the award is divided into three categories: "Shera Agomoni," "Shera Taaler Gaan," and "Shera Ancholik Pujor Gaan." Soumita Saha's highly acclaimed Pujo song, "Rupang Dehi – Aloy Ferar Gaan," triumphed as the "Shera Agomoni." Agomoni songs celebrate the goddess's homecoming, lauding her divine power. Soumita wrote and composed this evocative piece, which was recorded by Rana Mondal and mixed by Nero James from the U.S. The song reveres the goddess in her warrior and healer avatars, drawing poignant parallels with real-life heroines—female doctors and medical professionals who battled COVID, and women in the army and police forces. The "Shera Taaler Gaan" award was claimed by Anindita S for her song "Taale Taale Dhaak Bejeche," a joyous fusion of romance and festive energy. Penned by Chandan Banerjee and composed by Avik Dey, this track exudes a cheerful rhythm, perfectly capturing the celebratory spirit of Durga Puja. Anindita's melodious voice brings this dance-worthy number to life, making it an instant favorite of the season. The final category, "Shera Ancholik Pujor Gaan" (Best Colloquial Pujo Song), holds particular significance, honoring Durga Puja celebrations beyond Bengal. Many are unaware of the vibrant Durga Puja in Tripura, a festival eagerly awaited by its people. Recognizing this, the Global Tribune introduced this category to spotlight regional talent. A group of young performers—Somsubhra Acharjee, Rahul Banik, Jyotirmoy Das, and Debajit Sarkar—claimed the award for their stellar performance. The song was lyrically crafted by Soumik Banik and composed by Somsubhra Acharjee. Aditi Acharyya Roy, Assistant Editor of Global Tribune, expressed, "We are truly elated to celebrate some of the finest original compositions by these talented artists." • India's Net Zero 2070 Goal Explored at Net Zero Summit 2024

IMT Hyderabad, in collaboration with Virtusa, Greenko Group, and IIT Hyderabad hosted the second edition of the Net Zero Summit 2024 today at IMT in Shamshabad The summit focused on the theme “India’s Net Zero 2070 Goal: Progress, Pitfalls, and Possibilities,” exploring the country’s journey towards achieving net zero GHG emissions target by 2070. With insights into key sectors like power, agriculture, chemical, IT/ITES, and circular business organization this event discussed the intersection of economic growth and environmental sustainability. Giving his keynote address virtually Jayesh Ranjan, the Special Chief Secretary of the Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments of the Telangana government said our Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a net zero by 2070 target at COP26 in 2021.  This commitment India avoided for many years. And we were criticised for the same.  But, for a change it was committed by none other than the Prime Minister. Being a head of the nation he must have had his calculations and expert advice to make that commitment based on the performance levels of various states in India. But in the case of Telangana and some other states, it can achieve this much earlier. Though there is no official word from the Telangana Government so far on this based on some back calculations which we have done I can comfortably say that Telangana can achieve Net Zero status by the year 2047, which also happens to be the 100th year of India’s Independence.  I am saying this based on some back calculations, Mr. Jayesh Ranjan said.  If Telangana achieves Net Zero status by 2047, it will be a big milestone he added. Speaking further he added that I am saying this because we have been running Haritha haram for the past ten years.  Tree plantation happened prior to that. We have rejuvenated many of our lakes.  We have announced the Cool Roof Policy, EV and E Mobility Policy etc.  All of these initiatives will certainly make Telangana a Net Zero State, one of the few in India by 2047, which is much earlier than  India committed to becoming Net Zero.  The summit commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting by representatives from IMT Hyderabad, Virtusa, Greenko, and IIT Hyderabad. This was followed by a welcome address delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sriharsha Reddy , Director of IMT Hyderabad. Prof. (Dr.) Tulika Sharma , Assistant Professor of IMT Hyderabad and Prof. (Dr.) Sourabh Bhattacharya, Professor & Chairperson of the Centre for Sustainability and CSR of IMT Hyderabad introduced the theme of the event. The inaugural speech was delivered virtually by Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Special Chief Secretary for Industry, Commerce, and IT and I&C where he focused on India’s commitment to achieve Net Zero by reducing carbon intensity by 33-35% from 2005 levels by 2027 . Dr. Krishna Yedula , Vice President at Virtusa, also addressed the gathering focusing on Virtusa pioneering the sustainability journey. Additionally, a special technical session was conducted by Dr. Paravastu Rambabu , Advisor at Greenko Group where he focused on choosing the right way and methodologies to build a Net Zero India. Huge investments in green technologies are needed to achieve Net-Zero emissions by 2070. It is estimated that $160 billion is needed each year till 2027 to eliminate India’s energy dependence on fossil fuels. Prof. (Dr.) Sriharsha Reddy , Director of IMT Hyderabad focused on the initiatives taken by the institute within its campus to achieve sustainability by making 20% of energy consumption via solar panels and 90% of the campus covered under the green carpet. The summit aimed to foster transformative dialogue and collaborative action, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to address the challenges, assess the progress, and explore the opportunities in India’s pursuit of its ambitious Net Zero goals. The summit featured three key panel discussions. The first-panel discussion, moderated by Prof. (Dr.) Kalyan C Chejarla , Associate Professor of IMT Hyderabad, featured Mr. Sucheth Davaluri (Neuland Laboratories), Mr. Prashant Tiwari (Amara Raja Group), Wg Cmdr Srikanth Balagandhar (CRE Consultant), Mr. Sharfoddin (Cognizant) and Ms Priya Badshah (Invesco). They drove the audience's attention towards India’s Net Zero 2070 goal s. Esteemed panellists included Dr. S P Kamath (Bayer), Mr. Sandeep Chatterjee (IBM), Prof. (Dr.) Subrahmanyam Ch. (IIT Hyderabad), and Mr. Utsav Dixit (ALPLA), who shared their expertise on the topic. The event proceeded with a keen discussion on Circular Business Models led by speakers Mr. Naman Gupta (Code Efforts), Mr. Chandan Sharma (Goonj), Mr. Rajkiran Madangopal (Banyan Nation), and Ms. Vishala Reddy Vuyyala (Milletbank). • Anil Sahebrao Kapile: A Journey of Resilience, Dedication, and Educational Excellence

Anil Sahebrao Kapile was born into a modest Maharashtrian family in Shrirampur. His family, comprising six members, included his parents, a younger brother, a sister, and himself. Anil's father, Sahebrao Gangadhar Kapile, was a hardworking individual who initially took up a job in a private company before becoming a wireman at the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) in Mumbai. Due to financial hardships, he had to sacrifice his own education to support his family's needs, ensuring that his siblings received a proper education and that household responsibilities were met. Anil's mother, Mrs. Taramati Kapile, was the heart of the family, dedicated to nurturing her children while managing the household. She went beyond her role as a homemaker by making homemade delicacies like Shevai and other food products on a small scale to contribute to her children's educational expenses. Her perseverance was nothing short of extraordinary. She mortgaged all her jewelry to ensure that her children could pursue their education without any financial barriers. With unwavering determination, she encouraged her children to excel not only academically but also in various extracurricular activities. Mrs. Kapile instilled in her children a love for learning and a passion for excellence. She motivated them to participate in recitations, drawing, beautiful handwriting, oratory, storytelling, painting, writing, poetry, dance, and sports like cricket. Her goal was to raise well-rounded individuals who could shine in every aspect of life. Despite their own educational struggles, Mr. and Mrs. Kapile's greatest desire was for their children to receive the education they never had. Their dedication laid a strong foundation for Anil's future, driving him to reach for the stars. Growing up under the guidance of such devoted parents, Anil developed a dream to become a renowned engineer. His journey began with his early education at Navin Marathi School in Shrirampur, followed by his studies at K.J. Somaiya High School, where he consistently excelled in various competitions. His passion for education drove him to achieve 64% in his 10th board exams despite studying in Marathi medium. Anil's pursuit of excellence led him to pursue a diploma in Instrumentation at Pravaranagar (Loni). At the age of 21, he started coaching students on an hourly basis at Pravara Polytechnic, Loni, where he discovered his true passion for teaching. Determined to continue his journey in education, he went on to earn a Master's degree in Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University. Anil's dedication and expertise soon earned him a teaching position in the same college where he completed his diploma, followed by positions at Amrutvahini College of Engineering in Sangamner. Anil's exceptional teaching skills and leadership qualities eventually led him to become the Principal of the Polytechnic College at M.I.T Yeola, Nashik. In 2017, he took on the role of Principal at Samarth Polytechnic, Belhe, Junner, Pune—an NBA-accredited college where he continues to lead with vision and passion. Never one to rest on his laurels, Anil further expanded his knowledge by completing an MBA and is currently pursuing a Ph.D., guided by respected mentors like Dr. Nilesh Kalani and Dr. Pratik Mungekar. • "POSTERS THAT SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!"- Dr PRATIK MUNGEKAR

    1. Tell a Visual Story through Design Focus on the Journey, Not Just the Destination : Encourage participants to design their posters as a journey rather than a static display. It should lead viewers from the introduction to the conclusion in a way that mimics the process of discovery, gradually revealing key findings like chapters in a book. Design for Memory Triggers : Use color coding, symbols, or specific visual cues to trigger memory recall for the viewers. For instance, colors associated with emotions can be used to highlight key findings or areas of impact, making the information stick more effectively. 2. Interactive Elements Use QR Codes and Digital Integration : Encourage adding QR codes that link to interactive content like short videos, 3D models, or simulations related to the poster's topic. This adds a layer of interactivity, engaging viewers beyond the traditional static poster. Gamify the Experience : Suggest incorporating elements that make the poster presentation like a mini-game or quiz for viewers, helping them engage actively and retain the information better. 3. Human-Centered Approach Highlight the Human Element Behind the Research : Encourage presenters to include a small section about the inspiration, challenges, and stories behind the research. Sharing the personal journey behind the science can humanize the poster, making it more relatable and memorable. Impact Statement : Include a section that specifically addresses the potential real-world impact of the research in simple terms. How will this poster's topic change lives, improve systems, or innovate industries? 4. Minimal Text, Maximum Impact Infographic-Style Approach : Suggest turning complex data into compelling visuals using infographics. Visual storytelling with minimal text and high-impact images helps in quicker absorption and recall. One-Minute Rule : All essential information on the poster should be able to be comprehended within a minute. This brevity ensures that even in a crowded room, the key message is communicated effectively. 5. Reverse the Format Present the Conclusion First : Challenge traditional formats by suggesting that presenters lead with their conclusions or findings, then follow with the supporting data. This approach captures attention immediately and creates curiosity about the research journey. Visual Abstract : Create a mini visual abstract at the top of the poster that summarizes the entire research in a visually engaging way. It acts as a "hook" for viewers to dive deeper into the details. 6. The Power of Silence Silent Presentation Technique : Introduce the concept of a silent presentation, where the poster is so self-explanatory that it needs minimal verbal elaboration. This technique challenges presenters to focus on clarity and self-sufficiency of their visuals. Interactive Headphones : Encourage presenters to have a set of headphones linked to an audio explanation or guided tour of their poster. It adds an immersive experience and is a unique way to stand out. 7. Engage the Senses Beyond Sight Tactile Elements : Suggest incorporating tactile elements that viewers can touch or feel, like textured materials or 3D printed models related to the research topic. This multi-sensory engagement enhances memory retention. Scent Memory : If relevant to the topic, using scent as an added layer to create a more immersive experience can be an innovative approach. Scent is closely linked to memory and emotion. 8. Real-Time Data Visualization Dynamic Data with Real-Time Updates : Integrate real-time data visualization on the poster, where live data (if applicable) can be shown through a tablet or screen embedded in the poster itself. This provides the audience with up-to-date results and makes the presentation dynamic. Data Animation : Encourage animating key data trends or findings using augmented reality apps or animated screens that come to life when viewers interact with them. 9. Creative Communication Techniques Use Analogies and Metaphors : Encourage presenters to use creative analogies or metaphors to explain complex concepts. Analogies can bridge the gap between the research and the audience's understanding, making it easier to grasp. Storytelling with Data : Suggest weaving the data into a narrative that resonates with real-life scenarios or problems. Storytelling transforms numbers into a relatable experience, making the research more impactful. 10. Emphasize the Poster as a Networking Tool Call to Action (CTA) : Include a clear and compelling call to action that prompts viewers to take the next step — be it a follow-up conversation, a collaborative idea, or visiting a website for further information. Interactive Business Cards : Instead of static business cards, suggest having cards with NFC chips that, when tapped with a smartphone, directly open up a digital portfolio or research page. These unique and forward-thinking points can help emphasize the role of posters not just as visual aids but as powerful tools for communication, engagement, and collaboration. These ideas will set the tone for pushing the boundaries of how poster paper presentations are traditionally perceived.
